Just started site today 02/27/08 bought domain from godaddy, uploaded all site info into hostgator,changed some of the mains,put in public sitemap mod and xml.sitemap added to my google acct. got 10 inbound links submitted (not fun)

Timeline:

2/21/08 - Domain purchased
2/25/08 - Googlebot came a-callin’ (best I can figure is that setting up a Google Alert, per Rochelle’s recommendation, was the cause of this because I had done no link-building at that point)
2/27/08 - unknown bot came to visit
2/27/08 3:30pm - 1st in-bound link (Clipmarks) showing in cpanel and additional unknown bot has visited
2/27/08 6:30 pm - 2nd in-bound link (Kaboodle) showing in cpanel and Google has come back

I got off to a late start with my first site. Mr Murphy Law and I went head-to-head on my first niche selection and Murphy won … so I had to start all over again. I think this is a better niche after all.

I had read about Clipmarks previously and how quick the results were. Sure enough, my first Clip showed a link in cpanel after only about 2 hours although I’m still not seeing any indexing of the site yet. After seeing the fast result, I clipmarked another page but no results from that although I now have a link from Kaboodle.

I have a pretty elaborate article marketing strategy I will be using to market my sites. Details will follow in a couple of weeks after I’ve had a chance to see some results.

Get your Domain Name Skills Sharpened - Niche This!

OK… Kind of a weird post title, but you will learn it was for good reason.

In general, I watch very little TV… I mean, I will catch a bit of news or anything that has to do with building something (Modern Marvels, etc) BUT… there are two things I generally wont miss. Sunday afternoon football or NASCAR (for the 4 hour Sunday nap), AND for some reason, I actually like American Idol! Yup.. 42 years old, and I absolutely get into seeing what may be our future Pop Stars.

I am NOT a touchy-feely kind of person and not really a huge fan of John Lennon, but I gotta tell you… David Archuletta’s performance of John Lennon “Imagine” last night, has this kid destined for super stardom! I actually choked up listening to this and told Kim that it is by far, one of the best voices I have ever heard! (That comes from someone who busted ear drums on Van Halen in the 80’s) If he had a CD out, I would have bought it already…

CD’s, T-Shirts, Fan Sites, Blogs, History, ANYTHING to do with this kid will be profitable! Get in now…

The title is somewhat misleading, it should say… “Watch ME add a New Niche Store in an Hour!” :-) Really, the video is 41 minutes long… I take it from looking into my kitchen last week and thinking of a niche, to the store being active in a very broad niche! This site is going to be one of the unique ones you want to watch from start to finish!

Build a Niche Store Empire Series in 12 Weeks - Week 5 Development

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the day off… It is quite a long story that will be featured in its own post very soon. I learned a lesson though… when it is suggested that you protect your Wordpress install by closing all security loopholes, listen! If you run a wordpress blog, visit Matt Cutts (GoogleGuy) blog and read his post about the best way secure your blog.

I spent all day Saturday recording a video of installing a new Build a Niche Store site from scratch! OK, by scratch, I mean… you are ready to install a second site and wondering what to do next! I will finish editing the video tonight and hope to have it posted tomorrow afternoon. Be forewarned, it will be about 45 minutes long, but it focuses on using a very broad market, and turning into niche categories!

There are several things I need to address this week in addition to developing the niche sites. Part of the fun in doing the Build a Niche Store Empire series, is that I have the pleasure of helping people with ALL skill levels. I mean, there are some of you that never even heard of ftp or upload before. On the other hand… there are many who have been BANS users for several months and already have many active sites! The breadth of knowledge we have following along… well, it’s perfect!

Along with the different levels of knowledge comes a bit of confusion at times as to what comes next! I have questioned myself several times for doing “this” before “that”, when I know everyone wants to run with it, push it out, get it done, earn some money! I Do Too, believe me! I still have to revert back to my post from last weekend when I stressed that time and patience are very important with Build a Niche Store… take your time building the sites, invest your time in promoting the sites slowly, nurture and grow your sites steady! You WILL be rewarded!

My new, BROAD Niche Store post is coming soon! Beyond that we will focusing on Templates, something everyone is waiting for! :-)
