Acknowledge That You Suck, and Outsource It!

yousuckHow many times each month do you stare at your screen and DREAD the task in front of you? Whether its Designing a theme for the site, Building the actual site or Marketing the site once it’s out there, we ALL have a weakness or two that simply takes too much of our time and drains us of our energy and productivity.

My own biggest weaknesses are link building and content generation, but I am a few steps ahead of you, because I KNOW that I suck, and I have already started outsourcing the tasks!

How to Outsource and Suck Less!

Walk to the mirror, look at yourself… and admit it… You Suck At ___________ (fill in the blank) That’s the hardest step in this process, but now that you’ve admitted it, you are one step closer to finding success in your efforts!

As I mentioned earlier, my own biggest weaknesses lie in the writing of the content and marketing the sites once they are live. I can plan the hell out of site, build the hell out of a site, and theme it until I am blue in the face… in fact, it’s what I enjoy the most!

Outsourcing Your Content

Listen – if you think you can write the 25-50 launch articles for your site better and cheaper than someone who does it every day, you’re wrong! Unless you KNOW the product or niche you are building, you are embarking on a huge waste of time and effort, just to save a little money!

In the end, the time you spend researching and writing is going to take you 5x longer than someone who does it every day, and you could have used that time doing what you are good at!

I use two services for just about 100% of the content on my sites now, TextBroker and a Ghost Writer I rarely share!:

At TextBroker, I supply the article titles, put them into their content tracking system, and request the articles. In most cases, the articles start rolling in within an hour or two, and I can have 40-50 new articles delivered to me within 2 days! You don’t have to get all of your articles at one time like I do, and instead, request them 5 articles at a time. An OK quality 300 word article written to your exact specifications can be bought for $7-$15 each, depending on the quality of writer you choose.

My Ghost writer takes it a step further, and saves me even MORE time! After I decide on my article titles, I paste the titles into WordPress or whatever backend I choose, and I just send him the login to the site! Finding a quality writer is hard to do and it took me several years to find one that I truly trusted to just give free reign on writing style. Once you find one, you will appreciate that single most time consuming task being off your plate!!

Just before I posted this, I spoke to him and asked if he was free enough to write for anyone – if you are interested in using him, his rates are not the cheapest, but the quality is 5-Star – There IS a BIG Difference, and you get what you pay for!

  • (5) 300-350 word articles – $75.00 (4.2 cents per word)
  • (10) 300-350 word articles – $130 (3.7 cents per word)
  • (25) 300-350 word articles – $250.00 (2.8 cents per word)

He is a former Pastor, family man, and  located in Michigan USA, so there are no language or overseas time zone barriers. He does require paypal payments in advance, and if you are interested in using him, just email him at: articles@thenichestorebuilder.com for info.

Marketing Your Site

This is an area I still suck at – I know it, I try to fix it, and regardless of what I do… I still suck at the task of long term link marketing. The TextLinks service (25 free & permenant one-way link offer still active also) has helped to a degree, but it’s still not the be-all end-all solution. You cannot place all your eggs into a text links solution!

As I was building the N1Way Guide giveaway site, I worked out a deal with a friend Alex, who put together a “Launch Package” for new websites. Its a QUICK and VERY EASY way to get your site off the ground, and includes a distributed press release, video intro, a bunch of dofollow bookmarks and a series of manual link exchange requests with other webmasters.

Again… not a complete solution, but what would take me hours to do myself, Alex gets done within a day or two for $30 bucks, and I don’t have to worry about it!

In 2010, I am going to put a lot of focus on article marketing… but not through article directories, they are a dying breed. I have found a few other interesting article marketing solutions that I am utilizing right now, and will let you know how the efforts pan out when the results come in.

I am with you Mark, I suck at link building and staying really focused on what the site is about. I have several sites that I do not know anything about. I usually get someone to write articles for the content and then I put them on the site, and pay someone else for the links.

It is easy to get burnt out with all the site stuff that needs to be done. I have been looking into hiring a parttime Virtual Assistant. It will cost between 300 and 500 dollars a month. But if they have the right skills and prove themselves it will be worth every penny.

    Great timing for this post……:)

I know how you feel, personally I HATE writing large amounts of content for my websites so I plain just don’t do it. I either outsource it and pay someone to do it or Kate (my other half) does it for free :).

Building the site for me isn’t a problem, I LOVE making the site look nice and modifying it to function how I want it to but if it hasn’t got any traffic there isn’t much point.

Out sourcing of ANYTHING you don’t like doing or you don’t do well is a great tactic, it also enables you to achieve much more within a shorter space of time.

    Hi Mark,

Great topic, for me I hate writing and sometimes I just draw a blank when it comes to thinking of what to write.

When you place your orders how specific do you get?

Is their any writers on Textbroker you would recommend?
