Virginia recently asked if I could be a bit more detailed on how to add the privacy policy to a Build a Niche Store site.
The short video below walks through the process from start to finish. The code for adding the link to your footer file is:
<a href=http://www.mydomain .com/privacy-policy>Privacy Policy</a>
Note: I placed a space between mydomain and .com to avoid it being converted into a url on this page. You want to change the domain portion to your website and the /privacy=policy portion to your exact privacy policy page.
Also - DO NOT BLOCK this in your htaccess file! Google-Bot wont find it and will just assume you dont have a policy!

Got something to say?

Thanks so much Mark. Now that I see what you did, it is really clear. I had never used the part about turning off the page and I didn’t see how you got the link to be at the bottom of the page. Now it does seem obvious and like I should have thought of it myself…..
But I never would have, so THANKS!

Mark,,
Thanks for the video and the link to the privacy policy generator…I have added to all my sites…..
Good reminder for those using adsense on their sites. No need to tempt fate and threaten that account. I personally use a very quick method - put a privacy policy link to my templates and add a little php file to my skeleton BANS site that automagically fills in the details I want.
Sean -
Thanks for the tip! I had actually considered using a single file on one host and calling it from all sites… that way, one change file would encompass all sites at once.
BTW - I LOVE the look of your blog! What is the social network plugin you are using for the bookmarking on each post?
Thanks again,
Mark

Yeah, I really like the forte theme as well. Those social bookmarks didn’t come from any plugin actually — they’re built into the theme as a simple file include on single posts.
Very cool - I especially liked how you added the footer link. Nice!
Hey Mark.
Thanks once again. Can you show how you created the gmail account - specifically for the privacy email, along with the filters?
Thanks.
