Affiliate Network News for Build a Niche Store Owners!

June 1, 2008

RevolutionA few months ago, I signed up on the PepperJam Affiliate Networkso I could find alternatives to the CJ ads I had been running on all my BANS sites. PepperJam is very web 2.0 in terms of the way they approach affiliate marketing and their customers. They offer a very personalized and professional service to many fortune 500 companies and focus on communication as a method to drive success! In total, they advertise more than 250 advertiser partners to choose from for your ad space!

Now for the bigger news…

PepperJam announced May 29th, they are partnered with the eBay Partner Network! I don’t exactly know what this means yet, but one thing I immediately noticed is that a few of the payouts through PepperJam are HIGHER than joining the EPN directly!

PepperJam EPN Payout Structure

eBay Affiliate Program on Pepperjam Network Payout Model:

Monthly winning bid revenue tiers
Total winning bid revenue generated % of Revenue
$0.00 - $99.99 52.50% (50% on EPN)
$100.00 - $4,999.99 57.50% (55% on EPN)
$5,000.00 - $199,999.99 60.00% (Same on EPN)
$200,000.00 - $699,999.99 65.00% (Same on EPN)
$700,000.00 - $2,999,999.99 70.00% (Same on EPN)
$3,000,000.00+ 75.00% (Same on EPN)
Monthly new active users (ACRUs)
Total ACRUs recruited Compensation per ACRU
0 - 49 $26.00 ($25 on EPN)
50 - 1,999 $29.00 ($28 on EPN)
2,000 - 29,999 $31.00 (Same on EPN)
30,000+ $35.00 (Same on EPN)

I decided I would look through my last months earnings and see how the different pay structure would have affected my earnings…. the result is not sizable, but there was a definite difference! Most of us will be in the 2nd tier for a while and that extra 2.5% on your earnings can add up! $48.xx in regular commission and $2 in extra ACRU(Yup, only 2 ACRU’s last month)

This story is really just developing on whether or not this is just a promotional increase for the short term, or something that will hold the higher payouts. I have signed up to the eBay program again through PepperJam eBay Partnership and will report what I find as it happens.

Aside from the EPN partnership with PepperJam, they have some AWESOME programs you can take advantage of through their network! Many of their ads are set to autoapprove once you are a member of the network as well, so you dont have to wait 3-5 days for manual approval that is common with CJ. If you are not already part of the Pepperjam Affiliate program for Publishers, it is free to join and approval to the program is usually completed within 1 business day!

I have also signed up for the Market Leverage publisher program and plan on getting into their system early this coming week to check out their offers. Thus far, it is one of the most personalized programs I have found! More to come on this next week…

I’ve been intrigued by the EPN PepperJam announcement, I applied for PJ’s eBay program only to get declined?! (yet I’m a member of EPN) interesting.. anyways my main question is whether or not you think BANs users will be able to incorporate some sort of ID from PJ into the backbone of BANs stores as an alternative to the EPN itself?

With all the tracking issues since the EPN launch I think this would be smart of eBay until they have their issues sorted out. There are many unhappy affiliates wishing they could go back to CJ.

I also noticed that Neverblueads has an eBay program as well.

I’m still curious as to why I was declined? lol

I wonder if this a bit of a “loss leader” for Pepperjam so they can get a bunch of signups and promote their other offerings.

Poor Adam and Kelvin. They need to do a Pepperjam version of BANS. Hopefully the PJ ID is similar to the EPN campaign ID.

I applied a few days ago… still awaiting a response.

Overall, it should not be too hard to convert… just a matter of passing the variables.

Applied two hours ago and just got the final approval email. Was a little worried I didn’t have a corporate email account. Watched the video, looks promising. I hope we will hear more of your experiences with Pepperjam. Joette

That’s good to know. CJ ads have been disappointing for me up to this point and was just considering looking for other options. I’ll have to look into this.

Same here. Many clicks on cj ads but they dwindled after deleting ebay account. Also had some declined applications, probably because I don’t make any money! Haven’t applied for advertisers on Pepperjam yet. I think I will wait to see if Mark has any advice. And thank you Mark for the great templates. I have used them on my last two stores and although I am not as skilled as you with images, I think they look pretty good. Credit to you in place. Joette

    I still have many questions!

Does anyone know if PJ allows affiliates to do deep linking? On another forum someone stated that a PJ affiliate can only link to ebay’s homepage and use their creative ads. If we cannot directly link to subcategories and products, how would we use BANS with that system? Anyone with real hands on experience being an ebay affilate through PJ?

Will PJ cookies be immune to the Auctiva link hijacks within individual ebay listings?

    @ Lexi -

I’m still waiting to hear back from them myself… been 3-4 days now.

Interesting point about the creatives and homepage only!!

    Hi all,

I noticed that deeplinking is basically a no-no on all of there affiliate programs. But I would think that it would be near impossible to not. Who on the net puts an ad on the front page only? I think the masses might win that one.

Got something to say?
