Build a Niche Store 3.0 Bug and Update

By now, I’m sure everyone has already been contacted by Adam and Kelvin in regard to a minor bug found in Build a Niche Store 3.0. First, bugs are a normal part of software development… and behind the scenes, they are constantly working to perfect an “already fanstastic” piece of software!

The bugs:

• Cloaked Links were Not Tracking Properly
  Inside box number 4 of your setup area there is an option to “cloak affiliate links”. When selected clicks from store products are not been tracked.
  We have made some modifications and are now waiting for Commission Junction to update our statistics so that we can confirm that the changes we have made are effective.
• Altered Home Page Link Not Displaying In Correct Position When “Staggered Navigation” Is Selected
  If you change the name of your Home Page link when “Staggered Navigation” is selected (box number 6 of your Setup area) the home page link loses it’s default position at the top and is ordered alphabetically along with the rest of the content pages.

Don’t you know that as I am writing this post, the fix is already out! A second email from them has a zip file with 3 files that need to be updated on the server.

• /item.php
• /index.php
• /cont/FrontControl.php

Grab the zip file they sent out, extract it and upload the files per the directions in the included read-me file. This update literally took less than 2 minutes!
