I think it would look better and be more versatile. You could probably keep the lighter shade or you could even make that more of a tan/beige color. Then you would have a brown theme that had more natural wood tones that would be great for any furniture-related store. I don't see where you would have put a header of that size ... or did you change your site design when you had trouble finding a suitable header?
