Build A Niche Store Review – Part 1 – My First Store!

Hi All -

After a full week of developing several sites with Build a Niche Store - I have decided to write a fairly indepth review of how it works and how you can make it better for your own little niche store! If you didnt read my initial review of Build a Niche Store – I would suggest jumping over there first, just to get an idea of the product and why I got it in the first place! This series of articles will be a 4-part series that follows our first site from inception to a 30 day report.

As I stated in the previous article – the product installs very easily and you can have a site up and running in less than 5 minutes! That being said, I did spend several days creating a more customized BANS template that incorporates several key changes I have found to be a success in search optimization. For the sake of this review, I will be using the Wholesale Closeouts and Merchandise site that I have spent the most time in developing.

Details and time:

  • Site :: www.carolinacloseout.com (Wholesale Closeouts and Merchandise)
  • eBay Main Category :: #11450 – Clothing and Accessories
  • Targeted Search Terms :: ALL Long Tail terms related to wholesale apparel and closeouts. For ex: wholesale mens clothing, wholesale womens clothing and apparel, wholesale closoeuts, etc etc…
  • Launch Date :: FULL Launch August 1, 07
  • Time in development :: <1 hour to install, 5-6 hours to develop template, 10 hours to search optimize.
  • Ongoing efforts :: We will spend approximately 15-30 minutes each day for the first 30 days, writing category descriptions for the meta-description tag as well as adding one custom site page each week.

Goals:

  • 30 Day Goals
    • Full site re-indexing from search engines
    • 4 content pages
    • ALL category descriptions completed
    • Develop a sitemap function for the BANS product
    • 5% Click-through rate
    • $30.00 in total site revenue at the end of 30 days.

Tools Used for site:

  • Build a Niche Store - Essentially, the script that runs the show!
  • Google Adsense Account
  • Commission Junction eBay Affiliate Account
  • WordTracker keyword analytics
  • Dreamweaver & notepad – to modify the template and code.
  • Dedicated server account for the hosting, but you can use cheap or free hosting just as easily!

My next installment will outline the exact steps that were taken to search optimize the Build a Niche Store we published this week.

Search Optimization of a Build a Niche Store website

Thanks for reading – Mark!
