Busy Day at the Niche Store Builder Site!
First, thank you to everyone who has been sending comments and offering to be involved in the Build a Niche Store Empire series! The volume of comments today alone has been rather overwhelming and much more than I can respond to on my own! :-)
Thus far today – the site has had more than 7500 unique visitors, by far, the busiest day yet for the NSB website in its short 3 months of life. By the time we get to the middle of this series around week 5 or 6, I hope to get the main page for the series onto Digg and get a bit more exposure from some of the seasoned experts, who can also provide some insight for us as we go along.
For those wanting to be a participant
Several emails were from people wanting to be in the series still. I wish I had more room, but the 12 people (was originally going to be 10) are already on their way with the series. For some, it has likely not been too interesting yet, for others… there is probably confusion still! I promise, it will all get much clearer as we progress through each week.
A Suggestion of Easier Navigation
In addition to new visitors wanting to be participants, there were a few emails from people who asked if I could add the 12 week series to the category structure so it would be easier to follow. I DO have a solution, but for the short term, I have moved the outline of each weekly chapter to the top and bottom of the main Build a Niche Store Empire page. It can be accessed from the home page of the site at any time and shortly, there will be an outline section on top of the blog menu. At the bottom of each main post, you will find a set of related posts from the participants, linking to their posts.
Thanks again for all the inclusion requests. I assure you, this series WILL help you take your Build a Niche Store to the next level and develop or increase earnings quickly!
Make sure you sign up for RSS feed email updates in the upper right, or add the feed to your reader.
Have a great weekend!
Mark

As we progress slowly , i have been doing a lot of reading. I have come to realize that i need to drill deep, really deep to find a niche, that will be relevant, and have enough interested buyers, but not so broad that there is too much competition. Thanks to everyone for there input, I have read them all. I have also gone back through the archives, and am following the Build a Niche Store Process Series, which has helped me in the process of niche finding and how to do the research through ebay.
This is going to be a large learning curve. The more i get into this the more excited it’s getting

Len – Like you, I also use Mark’s Build a Niche Store Process Series. I actually printed each post of the series and have it in a binder near my desk. It has been a great resource for creating BANS sites.
Hi Mark,
Just wanted to take a minute to Thank YOU for your wonderful series. I am excited about this second series about building bans stores…it’s just what I needed to kickstart me into fixing and developing more stores.
I worked along with you in the first series, that started in September of last year. I was a little frustrated at not being able to take my stores to the “next level” of sales. So, because I was a little skeptical (of myself, not you!), I did a store in a pretty competitive market (webkinz) and didn’t buy a domain, just used a sub-domain. Well here are my commissions for that store:
Oct 2007 – $1.92
Nov 2007 – $57
Dec 2007 – $96
Jan 2008 – $163
Feb 1-9, 2008 – $101
If the rest of February is as good as the first nine days, this store is on track to make over $300 this month!
Thanks again Mark, I feel like I’ve got the silver bullet now! :-)
Adrienne,
Great job on that small-ticket niche. Except for the first month when you were just starting out, your sales have almost doubled with each month!
You indicated that you followed along with Mark’s series (oh why didn’t I stick with it?!) Did you do any other promoting of your site or did you just do exactly as he suggested?
Cindy
