Can you feel the Ground Shaking – Its a GoogleQuake!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but lately, Google has gotten quite a bit of my own attention! Whether it’s from several of my own BANS sites being delisted last month, the dispute over Privacy, Street View, or several other recent Google happenings… they are getting alot of attention!

The one thing that has me reading more than ever though, is the way Google serp’s have been all over the place! If you read the BANS forum, ePN Forum, Webmaster Forums, DigitalPoint, or just about ANYWHERE people talk about their websites, one of the most common threads lately… My Site(s) has Dropped in the Google Rankings!

Could it spell a Florida-Like update coming very soon?

… to be continued for sure!

What are your thoughts?

    Mark,
I noticed this effect starting last month with one of my sites being listed in the search”s then not being listed to being listed again this month..I thought I was doing something wrong.remember the problems with the sitemap not being set to G guidelines….But I did not do anything to the site for it to go away and come back…the G dance??

Very light hearted post, considering the amount of time that we spend trying to SEO our sites in an attempt to offer customers what they are looking for. Maybe the search engines think our customers are looking for something else when they type the words -Motorcycles for sale? -Gift Baskets? -Fuzzy Bunnies?

Google is fickle. It loves your site, it hates your site.

One of my sites gets SERP love for a month then none for a month, rinse, repeat.

    @ All -

Google has been adapting their own method since day 1 of the engine existing. Now they are like any other publicly traded company, in that they have to appease the demands fo their shareholders.

If you watch their stock over the past year… it has really not shown steady growth, like the 5 year chart does.

I have my own reservations about internet search being so controlled by one company, which it clearly is right now.

It will be interesting to see if Google makes a major change this year or continues to make “tweaks” like it has so far this year. I have noticed a major drop in the “link harvestor” sites picking up my sites in the last month.

I wonder if Google is finally doing something about them?
