Using Wordtracker to Develop your Build a Niche Store Categories

Earlier this week, Chris, a blog reader, had asked if I get a bit more detailed in how to determine the main categories for a niche store. He also asked about when to know if a site is focused or too broad of a niche. In the video below, I am using his site as an example of how to build both main and subcategories (product pages) on your Build a Niche Store affiliate site.

You will hear and see me using Wordtracker in this video… if you have it, open it up and use it daily! If not, once you see the power of wordtracker, you should sign up or use the free account.

Build a Niche Store Empire - Adding your Product of Subcategory Pages

How long has it been since my last post in the series? 3-4 days maybe? Once you watch this video, you will know why there was a pause… Broken down below, you should be spending 1-hour on each of these steps. When you get to the end of a week, move onto another site and bring it up to the same point.

1. Research the Niche
2. Load the Site
3. Configure the Niche Store Software
4. Develop your MAIN Categories
5. Install a sitemap and get some inbound links.

5 Hours later, END week 1… move onto another site for a week or so. Watch the video for further info.

Build a Niche Store Empire in 12 Weeks - Inbound Links Bring Spiders!

By now, everyone has gotten their first store up and running, optimized the main categories of the store and gotten a group of at least 10 inbound links! Before we run off and start working on a second store, how can we determine if search engine spiders have found our new site or not?

It’s all in your Log-files! Login to your cPanel, click on the “Stats” link, choose AWStats (My own preference), and scroll to the area for search spiders about 3/4 of the way down.

Build a Niche Store Empire - Turn on Your Sitemap and Find a Few Links!

As this week comes to a close, we should all have at least 1 Build a Niche Store affiliate site running and capable of logging sales and traffic. At this point in the series, I am going to write a piece about generating a sitemap to use on your site and actually linking to that sitemap from other websites, so search engines will find your index quicker!

Before I do that… let me say that Build a Niche Store 3.0 is due out VERY SOON… In version 3.0, the sitemap generator is already built into the administration, so most of what I am about to do is not going to apply to the newer version! I know… I heard the raspy gasps of air myself as you read that! For those of us using BANS 2.0 to build these first stores, we have nothing to worry about at all… the 3.0 update will update your current site in less than 2 minutes and all of your work will remain intact! Build a Niche Store - Working on Main Categories

First and foremost, I have reloaded the audio on several of the previous video clips. It is still not quite as loud as I would like it to be, but is much better. This segment includes (2) videos. They both discuss and show examples of WHY you want to make your own site unique from the hundreds already out there.

I also want to add that on Friday/Saturday, as I install a second niche store for this series, I am going to record the entire process from start to finish as an add-on domain. From Niche Research to getting the main categories completed, each step of the way will be recorded for you to watch. I will try to do in a larger format to make it easier to replay…

At this point, we are still not doing much deep research on our main categories. Common sense plays a large roll in the selection right now, and over the course of several weeks, our main categories will spawn into many, many more, based on indepth research.

I am just now figuring all this video stuff out… thanks for bearing with me!
