Convert Almost ANY WordPress Theme to a BANS Template

July 30, 2008

Many people have asked about converting a BANS Site to work within the WordPress platform. The biggest challenge, is not with the wordpress side, but with the BANS files.

I have been working on an e-Book and Video tutorial on how to convert almost ANY WordPress theme to work with your Build a Niche Store site! I would say this method works on ANY wordpress theme, but there is no way I could test them all to be sure!

The eBook covers the following topics:

  1. Adding WordPress to an existing BANS site
  2. Installing and Activating your WordPress theme
  3. Converting a set of Base BANS Templates (Supplied) to the WP Theme
  4. Several video walkthroughs of the entire process

Like anything that involves working with so many different platforms, (WP Themes)  there is no real way for me to cover everything and I am afraid more folks would be confused about the process, than it would help!

I will continue to work through the ebook and hopefully, get it done soon. BTW, this is NOT “My Big Idea“…

In the meantime… I am still offering the $49 package to convert ANY WP you own (ok, even the free ones) into a BANS theme for your own site. It can be found at the bottom of the BANS Templatespage, and in order to complete the project, I will need to have access to your cPanel for a few hours.

Hey Mark is there an version for more advanced guys coming? I am pretty familiar with wordpress, themeing and soon with BANS. I just stuck at PHP coding processes but the xhtml part is fine :)

    @ Manuel -

If you can code a bit of html and know how to call an include file, you can create BANS WordPress templates!

    Yup - Its that easy!

    Mark,

Your e-Book and Video tutorial on how to convert almost ANY WordPress would be fantastic. How much will you charge for this?

How soon do you expect to have this done….

I’ve only found a couple instances of ‘how to BANS/WP’ and would like to see a bit more information before I start crossing menus. I can’t wait to see what you are offering!

Yeah applying a wordpress theme to BANS isn’t that difficult. I do that all the time with free templates. I thought more about BANS integrated into WP and managing BANS from the wp-admin rather then on with BANS own admin panel…

I assume anybody could do this on a wordpress site using:

    - a plugin for wordpress to be able to post some php code such as exec-php
    - a rss converter into php (such as rss-info.com )
    - a rss link supplied by ebay partner network

    what else would you need???

@ Mark - I truly dont have a timeframe for the completion, but anticipate it will be within a week to 10 days… Some of the compnents are very easy… decoding an existing template needs a section all its own!

I am torn on whether to make it free or charge $49 for it. I like FREE and know everyone does as well. Its part of what makes the web work!

    @ Manuel -

I agree that it would be nice to have everything packaged into one interface, but segregation is actually one of the things I LIKE about using BANS and WP together.

There is a post on this later today…

    @ Thierryf1968

There is actually a phpBay plugin already available to handle a full integration between WP and eBay rss feeds.

Got something to say?
