Several weeks ago… I started on my own little coding project of a plugin. NOTHING at all to do with BANS, but instead, a way to help your fellow blog readers get the most from your topic! As many of you know, the Top 100 MMO blogs at 45n5.com is a GREAT resource to be listed on! I have been as low as 250 and as high as 72 at one point… but still struggling to get higher! Since entering the top 100, I get at least 35-50 visitors from it every day!
If you look up in the main menu, you will see a link for Top 100 Niche Blogs. it is my latest effort to put a little something together than is useful to you, the community. I am NOT going to list MMO blogs like Mark does, as that does nothing but saturate the market with a great thing, thus discounting all of them! (Sound familiar?) Instead, I am only going to allow sites that actually blog about helpful ways to get ahead with BANS, Niche Websites, Niche Marketing etc.
The Top 100 list is part of something MUCH larger that will be revealed in a few days… something you will want!
Social Networking as it relates to your blog is about sharing with others where they too, can learn more about what you are talking about! As you blog, you create your own little social network in your niche. You should never be afraid to link to other sites in the same market, even if they are competitors, as this is what grows BOTH of your sites! You see… even though you send them visitors, they are highly likely to send visitors back to you as well. Its kinda like telling your visitors…. “Hey, I talk about this, but if you can’t find it here, you might just find it at this site also!” (Linking this site to others)
In addition to linking to the other sites, you should subscribe to their rss feed also! Visit their blog regularly and participate in discussions with them and their readers, as it will ultimately grow your own base of readers with the same interests. Don’t go over and start posting just for visitors though… do it because you can help! As you read the other sites, you will quickly find topics you too, can post about! If you got the idea from their site, link to them and their post, explaining that you saw it there and it prompted you to write more about the subject! Personally, I have written several posts after reading something on another persons site. Anytime I springboard a post… I try to link to them as well.
As you can see, I added a few sites already that I found during a backlink check over the past two weeks at the http://www.linkdiagnosis.com/ website. Essentially, you go to that site, enter your url and it produces a VERY detailed report of who links to you, the anchor text and the strength of their site pages! While I only used it to find a few of the sites that link to me, there are other uses…
You can take it one step further and start entering the url’s of other sites in your niche, guess what, you get a list of the pages where they get their strongest backlinks! It will not only show you inbound links, but also everywhere they blog! From there, you visit the pages , and if they are topic-relevant to your own readers, start participating in the discussions! You have now entered into blog networking! If you saw the http://www.linkdiagnosis.com/ url in your own site logs recently, its likely that I used the tool to spider for links to your site. You may also see things like KeywordSpy and others that do the same thing! (More on that in another post!)
Keep in mind, there are many backlinks to this site (26000+ in yahoo), but not all are Niche Site Building types of sites. There may also be other blogs that are BANS focused, but did not link over to me, thus I didn’t find them… As I accept new sites for the list, the one thing I will make sure I enforce is that they are related to building niche websites versus the broad MMO market.
Its actually an ingenuous way of comparing yourself to others in your market. It takes your Google PR, your Technorati links and your Alexa Rank, three common metrics in the authority world, and runs a fairly basic algorithm on them, for the final results you see on the page! The page is setup with a cron job, and updates automatically ever few days!
If you want to move up the list… you work on increasing the social value through Technorati first, the PR and Alexa rank will ultimately follow!
Do you have a Niche Site Building Blog that should be included on this list? If so, just go to the contact form, choose Top 100 from the drop down list, and provide me with your Name, Site Name, Website Address, and of course, email address. I review and add sites within 24-48 hours of receiving the request, unless of course I am not in front of a PC. You will receive an email when your site is added.
If you would like to help increase the popularity of the Top 100 Niche Blogs list and give your readers more information about Building Niche Websites, please link to it and give your readers more to digest! Its not however required to be in the list.

Got something to say?
Posting tweet...
To bad mine is in german :( I blog mostly about internet marketing and seo not related to a special topic though. Sharing knowledge is what my visitors like :)
I have a new site I’ll be launching shortly so I’ll be sure to submit it here when it is up and running.
Wow, I’ve not hear of linkdiagnosis before but it looks like a decent tool to use. What I”ve been practicing is to visit those who leaves comments on my blog and reciprocate the same.
The only problem I have is to lose counts as I couldn’t possibly be returning to all the blogs on a daily basis. I wish I could be on your niche list but isn’t mine not within the niche?
