Easy sign up, heck even I got it done. Hows this going to affect BANS? Looks like we can add the widgets to Wordpress etc., at least when they come live.

I am all signed up now Mark. Excited to get this over with and have all my sites migrated from Commission Junction to eBay.

The signup was certainly a breeze.

I’m in as well! Wonder how long they’ll take in getting the application reviewed.

  4. Rochelle on April 1st, 2008 9:20 am

    Eric,

I don’t know if the review of my application is complete yet but I got an email right away that let me log in and get started.

To anyone signing up - you might want to check your email as soon as you are done with the application.

Same here… the welcome email was immediate, and once I clicked in to confirm, I was accepted.

no email here.. i hope i didn’t fill something out wrong.. was there anything on that form i wasn’t suppose to check or anything that would not get me in ?
i chose US only and ebay half..
I did check all 3 boxes
Downloadable software Electronic communications (email/IM) Incentives
didn’t know what to do there so i checked them..
and it asked for a website so i put up one of my sites..
    did i do anything wrong..

  7. Mark on April 1st, 2008 9:52 am

    @ Jeff -

If I recall - there was a red message directly under the incentive section that said it may delay your approval.

I would resign and choose “Natural Traffic / Website” as the method…

You may have to use a different email address, thankfully, there is GMail! :-)

  8. JeffLeft on April 1st, 2008 10:08 am

so i wasn’t suppose to check the 3 boxes?
I’m pretty sure i did chose “natural traffic/website”
now i’m looking for the resign option..
    uggggggggggggggggg

  9. Rochelle on April 1st, 2008 10:25 am

Mark - Do you think Jeff would be penalized for joining up twice? Or would it not matter since tax info (ie SS#) isn’t added until one can log in?

Also, any idea when the BANS update will be released so we can get started on the changes? My campaigns are all entered and I’m eager to get this over with.

  10. Mark on April 1st, 2008 10:29 am

    @ Rochelle -

Since the initial process only validates email address, as long as a secondary is used, it shouldn’t matter…

In regard to the BANS update… I wish I knew!! I was under the impression from a conversation last week with Kelvin, it would have been released yesterday! :- ) Wishful thinkin anyhow! LOL

  11. Scott on April 1st, 2008 10:36 am

Awww, I am so impatient, it was intimated BANS was poised and ready to upgrade when Ebay did this…..I want to build a couple of other sites, need to get that unknown magic number heheheh.

Mark do you respond to emails from yahoo?

  12. JeffLeft on April 1st, 2008 11:13 am

so am i suppose to choose all the different countries or just US
i have another email address so i guess i’ll give it a shot when i hear back..
    thanks all !

  13. Eric on April 1st, 2008 11:48 am

No email either…nor in my “junk mail”…

Here’s the message I got when I tried to login:

“Your Application is currently under review. Please look for an email within the next few days.”

    Backed up, maybe????

  14. JeffLeft on April 1st, 2008 11:53 am

    yeah that’s what i got..
oh well.. dunno wether to wait or try with another email..
i guess checking those 3 boxes about email, downloads and don’t remember what the other was.. i guess that slowed down the process?
    did you check those?

  15. Sheila on April 1st, 2008 12:02 pm

Mark - could you just clarify what I have to do. Do I have to create a campaign for each of my websites, find the campaignid, then replace the CJ PID in the Setup section of each website with the new campaignid?
Also, how do I find the campaignid? The campaigns page just gives my campaigns a name that I choose.

    thanks for any help
    Sheila

Regarding the release of the BANS fix, what I read indicated that there would be a delay.

The guys said they would have to sign up along with everyone else and do some tests and then would have to wait for the results to post to their account to be sure everything worked as it should.

At best, they would be delayed by eBay’s reporting timetable. Or it would be even later if there were issues that cropped up.

When planning my week’s activities, I put it on tomorrow’s schedule to fix my BANS sites, thus giving a little time for them to get things working correctly and keeping me from chomping at the bit to get my sites fixed today!

  17. Eric on April 1st, 2008 12:14 pm

    Jeff

No…I checked “Natural Traffic/Website” and I DID NOT check those other 3 boxes you talked about.

I did have to enter one of my store URL’s too…

  18. JeffLeft on April 1st, 2008 12:20 pm

I went ahead and did it again using another email address i had and checked all the counties and didn’t check the 3 boxes.
I got the confirmation email and activated!
    :)
i guess i’ll just ignore the other email if/when it comes…

    I need to learn PATIENCE!!
I’m not touching another thing until i find some more info hahahah
    Thanks for all your help!

  19. Mark on April 1st, 2008 12:27 pm

    @ Shiela -

The best thing to do is just migrate ALL of your BANS sites into the campaign section, creating a new “campaign” for each store.

Adam and Kelvin have not released the update yet, but from everything I read on the eBay migration forums, it is a pretty simple process of adding 3 variables to the link, only one is different that the current setup!

    Current - PID=xxxxxxxxx
    New - campID=xxxxxxxxx

Realistically, this could be as easy as a 3 file changeout… BUT… I wont touch anything until I hear from Adam and kelvin, they may be incorporating other file changes at the same time!

I just re-registered with a different email, and still nothing….

  21. Josh Bohling on April 1st, 2008 2:26 pm

Personally, I’m waiting a few days. Unless you are expecting significant bank from your ebay referrals (like Mark, for example, or a few others posting here), the 5% isn’t that much. I personally am shooting for $200 this month, which translates to $10. If I decided to stay out of the pool for the first half of the month to wait and hear from others making the transition, see what hiccups develop, watch the blogs, etc., I’m out $5. I’d say that is $5 well spent to wait and see. If you are newer like me, I’d say sit tight and give the dust a chance to settle. Just my 2 cents (or 5 bucks. ;-)

  22. Josh on April 1st, 2008 2:39 pm

I mean $10. I’m out $10 for waiting a couple weeks. Me not do math well. =P I’m out only $5 if I just wait a week and see.

Nevermind. I was right the first time (which hasn’t posted yet.) Mark, can you clean my mess up? sorry! =P

  24. Sean on April 1st, 2008 3:03 pm

Speaking of which, the BANS team just released the update for migrating from CJ to eBay’s partner network. Go get’em.

  25. Rochelle on April 1st, 2008 3:16 pm

If it helps I wrote something about the new eBay Partner Network (EPN) at http://www.nichestorestrategies.com/my-first-thoughts-on-the-ebay-partner-network/

It will probably answer some of the questions you may have about this.

I just went through the signup process over there. I also got an immediate response. I got a red note a couple of times but fixed them.

I also went into the API portion (Developers). Since I am not a programmer, that doesn’t apply to me.

My question is asking for your opinion: Does the Ebay affiliate program build a site for you or would I be better off buying BAVS?

  27. Mark on April 1st, 2008 6:47 pm

    @ Rick -

Welcome! The eBay affiliate API is merely the vehicle for custom code to parse the data.

Essentially, ebay published an xhtml feed (RSS) that is constantly updating… you could do the same thing with a blog or something to that effect, but it is not as dynamic and “ecommerce” lookalike as BANS.

The biggest benefit of Build a Niche Store is the flexability to use the script as part of a bigger picture… like a full portal.

Well worth every penny for sure!

Everything went smoothly for me and I’m anxious to get my sites updated with the new ebay ids!

  29. John on April 2nd, 2008 12:27 am

WOW! I joined ebay affiliate program without a hitch??? miracles never cease! OHHHHH but you just wait, the best is yet to come! When the file transfers and all that other stuff happens, its curtains!John

  30. Sarah on April 2nd, 2008 3:39 pm

Well, I breezed through that just fine - saw the updates and fixes from BANS but will work on that later. I am hoping all of this makes a big difference as I have been stuck at $4.93 in CJ for a month now! I have had some traffic but also have my agenda to continue implementing all of Mark’s great tips and ideas! Slowly but surely (emphasis on the slowly part as I have no experience in programming and working behind the scenes of the internet) it is coming together and I am learning SO MUCH!!! I love it!

Got something to say?
