ePN and HostGator not Playing Well Today!

I ran out to the Doctor with Kim this morning and got home to my Google Webmaster Tools account showing TONS of errors! It only took a few minutes to find the problem though… pages not responding!

Update 6:16 PM EST – All seems fixed!

A quick jump over to the eBay ePN forums and I quickly found I was not alone! Like many of you, I let out a HUGE sigh of relief, knowing ePN had not decided to shut off an account at the feed level, based on IP address. but… but… what the heck is going on?

Well – it looks like someone over at eBay may have blocked a series of IP addresses!

Worried? Nope… this is not the first time this has happened and it’s likely not the last! Just a little hiccup that should be corrected soon! The folks at ePN (The Pinks anyhow) are aware of the issue and looking into it as I am writing this post!

On another note… I had not been able to get hardly ANY of the affiliate pages at ePN to load since they made their switchover to the new setup yesterday. Turns out they made some DNS changes that may take 24/48 hours to propagate across the web.

Check your sites – if they are down, make sure you check them again later!

Mark

Ouch … glad I saw this post before I looked at my BANS site. Thanks for preventing, or at least delaying, cardiac arrest!

I’ve not been able to access EPN at all. I assumed it was due to the reporting changes that they are making. My stores appear to be fine though.

It never ends in the life of TheNicheStoreBuilder… lol

I almost look forward more to your downs than your moments of genius, because your downs and mishaps are much more entertaining and I get to see glimpses of your “twisted” personality shining through…

I have a quick question for you Mark. I have a bunch of BANS sites that are showing a high number of clicks fromt the epn reporting system, but I know that the domains are getting no traffic because they are brand new.

Any ideas on why that is happening and how to possibly fix it?

@ All – It looks like the folks at ePN are all over this issue!! Hopefully, they get it resolved quickly!

More than 50% of my own sites are off right now as well…

@ Michael – It may be robots/spiders following your links!! I thought they had that issue fixed as far as tracking spider hits… but you never know!!

I had a BOT go nuts on one site the other day.

EPN showed 200 clicks….Google Analytics showed 3 visitors.

They have totally not cured the bot click issue.

    @ Bill -

You know, you really need to find a way to get those bots more “engaged” in eBay my friend!

    :-)

Considering the site had 3 visitors I was just happy to see activity of any kind. Lol.

She’s all stable now! HOPEFULLY EPN will think and research before they block another IP… i mean seriously, how much revenue did we (& THEY) loose with that stunt?

What I’m seeing all month is record high numbers of clicks and record low commissions. Had a great month last month, looks crappy this month.

Yesterday I saw the same thing but remember that something about the account was changing on the 10th, otherwise I would have assumed I was banned or something.

I do tend to panic so I am glad I saw the email in my eBay account.

I decided to leave it for a day or two and see if the errors remained.

This morning all was normal looking again.
