Erik’s Site
Niche Site 1: Mexican Travel Deals (sitemap)
Date of first inbound link: I don’t have any yet, except perhaps the ones above.
Costs: $10 for domain, plus pro-rata costs of hosting and Wordtracker subscription
Earnings: 0
Notes: This site was put on a domain I bought a few weeks before this program began. I had the domain parked and I somewhat arbitrarily decided to turn it into a niche store without having done any research first (note that I did do research in order to build main categories and at this time I also have a good list of high KEI phrases which in the coming weeks I will use to create subcategories). So it will be interesting to see if this can end up being a successful niche store. My next store, which should be up in a few days, will be a guitar effects store, and that was a niche I thoroughly researched before even deciding to go with the niche.
Timeline: I basically followed Mark’s steps although I did modify the store a little.
2/17 or 2/18: Uploaded a logo (I know, this was the thing you should not do until way later. But it was my first true BANS store so I got a little ahead of myself).
2/19 to 2/22: Researched Terapeak and Ebay to build a list of main categories. I also set the home page properties. Also, sometime around this time I applied to be an affiliate of various travel companies. I know, it was getting ahead of myself, but I added a couple affiliate links and an adsense ad.
2/22 to 2/24: Set up my main pages with keywords, titles, file names, and so on.
2/25: Finished installing sitemap mod. Tomorrow I will try to get some links.
Google visited on 2/23, and Yahoo visited on 2/22.
