Finding Gold in a Vertical Niche is Going to get Easier!

I was going through my feedreader this afternoon and saw that Alan over at Affiliate Confession posted about some Better Category Stats At eBay Partner Network soon! Immediately, I jumped over, read his post and was delighted to see how we will be use this for vertical sales opportunities!

One of more popular sites is HIGH on hits and sales, but not always in the same niche the site is focused on! The reason behind that is because the items are pretty high cost. Alot of the visitors go in from my links… then browse their way to other related categories I may have never thought of!

Head over to Alan’s and read his post… you will immediately get an idea on how to use this to build your niche site into a much better resource for your visitors!

After you read his post, login to your account and look at some of the stats that are in place already! You will be surprised to see just how much this helps!!

Thanks for the mention Mark. It’s nice that eBay does something good for their affiliates once in a while. This should be a very useful tool.

Excellent Mark. I have been hoping they would do something to make it easier to understand where exactly the sales are.

    As usual, thanks Mark

This is Great news… Be interesting too see how much makeup we’ve sold lately (it’s our second most popular item after the iPhone!)

I remember someone had commented here that Terapeak was no more free…

    … It is!

I just went there and searched it free.

    Hey Mark,

Can we make our blog open for readers to write posts on it without any management complications?

And, in your opinion, should we do so?

  • G B SINGH said:

And can the blog platform make communities of readers as well within the blog boundaries?

@ GB – I think you can… but I would not recommend it. The spammers are too crazy!! On the DIY Reviews site, I already get 15-20 spam comments every day, you can imagine the context of the posts if I opened up user submitted posts with no editorial process.

I set all users to “Contributor” which requires my approval before their post goes public.

In regard tot he communities of readers… I am not sure I understand. This blog for instanct is straight wordpress and has a community of readers like yourself.

No, if I want to make a community here on some particular issue of action (supposing you – the one whose blog it is – allow so) in which 17 other people are interested too; and Bill wants to do so on some other issue in which some other 21 are interested…

Can these two communities be separately made somehow and declared being made that way on a blog platform?

I do not want to use other platforms since blog is a real creative platform that has suited my temperament somehow!

I am just contemplating how far we can stretch the limits of this platform keeping it format blog only. If it is conveniently possible, I have some real good plans with me.

    Mark,

I’m still waiting for your reply to my comment above!

    @ GB –

With WordPress, you CAN split your categories into separate feeds on the site, yet still have them as part of a main feed. Additionally, if you use a list manager like aWeber, people could subscribe to individual sections of your site, versus the entire site.

ie: You could have a topic on “This” with its own feed and mailing list.

Bill could have a section, focused on “That”, with its own feed and mailing list.

Visit http://news.yahoo.com/rss, and you can see how each section has its own feed and separate rss. On this site even, with the standard WP install, you can just add: /feed/ behind ANY of the categories to the right and see they all have their own feeds.

    I hope that helps…

    Thanks Mark,

I’ll come up with my next set of technical problems in this regard if and when any of them arises.

    Thanks for now!
