Just in time for your Holiday Niche Store Building…
The ChristmasDays WordPress themeby Design Disease is a widget-ready, 2 column theme with a nifty little countdown script in the headers section, showing the days left until xMas!
If you have a blog and site that deals with holiday gifts, or can easily be geared toward the holiday season, you should be starting your promotion of the site NOW to be ready in time!
To see this theme in action, click over to the Design Disease theme preview here. The only difference is that the black bar on top is NOT there on the production site. I have installed this theme for 6 different people and am awaiting permission from them to link to their sites as an example of the BANS side.
Example 1: Christmas Ornaments, Recipes and Collectibles
So… you have a domain that might be good for a Christmas themed site, but where do you start? What should the site be about… and where will you find content?
The first thing to do is start planning on being THE PLACE for people to find the hottest trends! Start your blog by ASKING what the hottest trends may be, then as you find the answers… write new posts with your own results! Write reviews of the items on your blog and link people into your highly customized BANS section, that ONLY shows those hottest gift giving ideas!
When building the Niche Store side of this site, focus on the items you are going to be reviewing! iPods are ALWAYS hot gifts, but what about the latest gaming consoles, the new Google phones, clothing etc. Spend a few hours doing a bit of pre-shopping right now, to find out whats going to be hot this season… and get in front of it! Don’t forget about fake trees and other supplies often used during the holidays.
When it comes time to build store pages, DO NOT choose ANY category in BANS setup! Use a 2 in the main setup field and from that point, use a ZERO on EVERY single page you create, and pull in your items with keyphrases.
Before this theme will work, you MUST go to the Design Disease ChristmasDays theme page, download and install the WordPress theme. Once you have it installed on your blog, you only need to drop in the files that go along with it in the ChristmasDays BANS WordPress Theme.
All but one file is now inside 2 folders. Your store menu, Your WordPress theme files, and your BANS Theme files! There is a pretty clear-cut install.txt included with this theme, which tells you where to put each set of files.
The theme is setup for the blog on the root of the domain with BANS in a folder. However, you only need to specify your store and blog locations in the pathvars.php file, and it should work either way!
The Creative commons licensing is in effect on this theme and those from the original carry over as well. You are free to use and modify, as long as you retain all original links back to the developer. Essentially, don’t copy the work and represent it as your own, always pay tribute back to the author.
