Although, they are starting to lose the luster like directories as well. @ Rochelle - I added a link page to the putter site - ALL links are most definitely "followed", and before the 90 day period is over, I will actually link directly from the review pages (the money pages) to other sites as well. I try to avoid "sitewide" links unless it is in a sidebar like blogroll. Whihc are much LESS effective than single page links. I added a link page to the putter site – ALL links are most definitely “followed”, and before the 90 day period is over, I will actually link directly from the review pages (the money pages) to other sites as well.

I try to avoid “sitewide” links unless it is in a sidebar like blogroll. Whihc are much LESS effective than single page links.

You didn’t mention article submissions, however. A well-written, highly targeted article can bring in quite a bit of traffic from ‘high quality’ article directories (i.e. ezinearticles, Goarticles, Articlesbase, etc.).

Of course, this step might be pushing the N1Way Readers Guide mantra – “Do Only As Much That’s Needed – and Nothing More!â€

Of course, down the road, if you do find that your niche is profitable, it would definitely be worth persuing!
