Go Where the Food is!
Anyone remember Sam Kinison? He had a “not so user friendly” bit that he did on world hunger. I will actually link to it at the bottom of this post… but if you don’t appreciate sarcastic humor at the expense of others… please don’t read it!
The point he made, was that instead of helping people in an environment where food simply wouldn’t grow (the desert), it just makes more sense to send them a uHaul truck with enough gas to get to an area where they can build farms and have enough food to last them forever!
So… why am I referring to this?
You Should Really use HostGator!
As many of you already know, the first recommendation for BANS is that you use Hostgator for your site. While they are not much different than other hosting companies, their servers are configured in a way that MAKES SURE everything we want to do with BANS works properly.
I would venture to estimate I get about 25-30 emails each week from readers who are having trouble with their niche stores directly related to using a different hosting company. I truly enjoy helping others and I have spent endless hours helping people with GoDaddy and other hosts, trying to configure the htaccess in order to work with Build a Niche Store. On more than one occasion, I actually provided a shared hosting plan on one of my own servers, for no other reason than I was tired of trying to make it work somewhere it was not designed to!
HostGator has EVERY tool you will need to realize success with Build a Niche Store and for that matter, almost ANY other way you would want to run a website! I am not saying this because I am part of their affiliate program, I am saying it because its the truth!
Does Build a Niche Store work on other hosts? Of course it does… not all of them though, and definitely not as easily! I even have it installed and running on a GoDaddy account myself, JUST so I can test issues people may have!
HostGator has many offers and they are easily found on the web! Right now, you can try HostGator for only 1 Penny! (coupon code: wordpress) Thats right, the first month will only cost a penny! After that, its just $5 – $14 per month, depending on the plan you choose! Incidentally, if you plan on having more than 1 website… go with the “Baby” plan… it costs $9/month after the first month and will do almost everything you ever wanted!
Again… this may be offensive to some – you’ve been warned.

Hostgator is definately the way to go when hosting BANS sites. I have never had any trouble from their hosting plans.
