GoDaddy Code – .99 Cents for First Year! HOT!!

Quick and dirty post about a GoDaddy Discount Code for the first year registration of a new domain…

Just .99 Cents for the first year!

Use coupon code: BUY2010 during checkout!

This code does NOT work on renewals, and only works on ONE domain per cart! Kim and I just registered several, and you just have to do them one at a time, if you want to get more than 1 domain.

Edit: Just to clarify – this discount code only works ONCE Per Person or GD Account.

I don’t have a clue how long it will last – so jump while its hot! Go to GoDaddy and register now

    Awesome! Thanks Mark.

Still have to pay for the privacy assist I assume?

I can see myself regretting this a year down the line :), I may just go on a spending spree :D

@Ben Johnson – I KNOW the feeling for sure Ben!! I think I let 2-3 domains EXPIRE every week now.

Its kinda like going to a buffet and loading up with 5 plates of food on the first pass… eyes get bigger than the stomach can handle!

Are you guys utilizing privacy assist? Or just doing the 99 cent domains by themselves?

  • Mark Hansen (author) said:

@Tyler – Hey Tyler – good to see ya around man!!

I have not used privacy on a domain in quite a long time. It ONLY keeps out the honest people man… domain registrars, search engines, and anyone willing to dig hard enough can find out who owns one.

    @Mark Hansen – True enough!

I think I am more concerned about giving away my niche’s and my home address (probably more so the latter!)

  • Ben Johnson said:

@Mark Hansen – I only use Privacy assist when it’s free, like with Name.com. As you say if you are prepared to digg deep enough or pay enough then you can get your hands on pretty much anything.

  • Mark Hansen (author) said:

@Ben Johnson – Agree Ben. Just knowing a server I have a site on (like this one), adsense or analytics on… you can find ALL my sites, private reg or not!

Well, I got one for the $1, but unable to get any others, looks like even after you create another account it checks for the same billing or information and then kills the code.

    Hmmmmm.

  • Sean said:

Dang it, and I have 31 other names that are really good (for right now anyways).

  • Mark (author) said:

@Sean You are correct Sean – it only works once per person. I guess we should have tested it further. She tried to reg a few and it only disco’d one of them, which I then registered and got the discount.

I made a false assumption there!!

    Mark,

    Great find!!

When you used the code, were you able to purchase multiple domains?

    Rochelle

  • Mark Hansen (author) said:

@Rochelle – Yes, but the discount only applies to ONE DOMAIN, per account.

    Mark,

Gotcha. Not quite so exciting. But, I hope to use it when I purchase new domains next week, if it’s still valid. If not, no big loss.

Code still works today. Thanks, Mark!

    Great! Thanks, Mark

I have also run into a problem with trying to register multiple domains across multiple accounts. In the past its been no problem getting one for each account, but now it will only let me do one across all of my accounts.

  • Mark Hansen (author) said:

@KCMark – If you’re doing it all on the same PC, you probably have to dump your GoDaddy cookies.

Mark, I just created a new account and this time used a different credit card. This time it worked. I guess what you said would also take care of it.

  • Mark Hansen (author) said:

@KCMark – I have actually used the new account method as another way of trying to optimize, also Mark. With all the search engines knowing I have +300 domains and many of them are affiliate sites, using a different account may just have a positive effect on new domains.

I just started doing it 3-4 weeks ago on a few new sites, so its too early for me to tell for sure! It would be interesting to know if anyone else has done this and the effect, if any, it may have had.

    :-)

  • Cherie said:

Thanks Mark That’s great. Even though I think I’m going to get my confirmation call from them in the middle of the night!

  • Sean said:

@KCMark – I think it’s the Billing Info that is the cause of not letting you register more than one per account. I gave up after trying 3-4 times. I’ll just use my godaddy reseller to reg the 90 new names I found today. But gotta sacrafice some others that I don’t wanna renew – domain juggling.

@Mark HansenAs far as having more than one account I don’t believe it’s necessary for that positive effect. Just make the WHOIS unique to your business or registration whois. Before I put a site up – I use the domain name as the business or org field and use variations of my full name such as initials, first, middle, surname and include the actual DBA name as Address 1 or 2. If you have a catchall email, put the name of the domain infront of the @. Check your whois on a name to see how many it shows you own – http://whois.domaintools.com/

  • Tyler said:

Man who would have thought that protecting your privacy would be such a lucrative business for these domain registrars?

Frustrates me that affiliate marketers like us have to deal with possibly exposing the personal information of ourselves and our families OR shell out almost DOUBLE the cost of every domain name we buy.

Shady business practices in my opinion, but I can’t say I blame them. I am sure the profit margin from doing this is huge.

  • Dave said:

    Thanks Mark!
I just got the 99ยข deal but for some reason GoDaddy would not let me use PayPay. There wasn’t an option when I went to pay. Had to charge that $1.17 to my credit card.

DANG, just tried to use the code and it didn’t work. However don’t stop trying. my dot com was not available so I tried .net. Code might only work with dot com.
