Google Chrome – Search Engine Launches its Own Web Browser

As many have speculated for several months.. Google Chrome is for Real! Read more here and here, and tomorrow, download it here or Here!

Here is a backend link to the chrome comic book they released early!

Google Chrome is Googles own web browser! The launch is scheduled for tomorrow morning and you may be wondering how I got this posted tonight… ahhh… the power of post-dating your Posts in WordPress, but I will talk about that next week when I get back home from my trip!

As of now, not alot is known about Google Chrome web Browser, but you can rest assured it will be discussed heavily over the next week! I fear Google is already WAY too deep into our browsing habits and yes, they know EVERY SINGLE WEBSITE you visit every day!

Is Google Chrome just another way into our private browsing habits? If so… how much more information do they need on us?

Competing with Internet Explorer – and Beat it to the Punch!

Chrome has a privacy mode; Google says you can create an “incognito” window “and nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged on your computer.” The latest version of Internet Explorer calls this InPrivate. Google’s use-case for when you might want to use the “incognito” feature is e.g. to keep a surprise gift a secret. As far as Microsoft’s InPrivate mode is concerned, people also speculated it was a “porn mode.”

Let me know when you install it – and how it works for you!

I’m not too keen on this whole thing. Maybe it’s my nature online, but anything involving a massive corporation usually involves unknown objectives – I’d much rather go with the indie companies like Firefox or Opera as opposed to IE or Chrome.

I will definitely be looking forward to the upcoming discussion on this.

    Elijah,

You do realize that Google pays FF multi-millions of dollars to be the default homepage and the default search gadget?

I would say that Mozilla’s hands are hardly clean on this one.

For me, it is more about convenience. Does the addition of a new browser complicate that? Probably.

It would have to be much better than FF for what I like to do while browsing.

Otherwise, I will download it and check browser compatibility to make sure my sites markup shows as intended.

I think with the development of this new browser from Google the others will have to get better to compete eventually. With the way that Google promotes the things that the like this will probably be the top one in a year or so. That may mean we will have to or at least need to have it on our computers as an option.
The Chrome browser may keep track of us more than the others but I think the big G will make it one of the best since they have their hands in so many cookie jars and will make millions if not billions because of it. I probably will not even download for a while to let the bugs get worked out.

I’ve viewed my stats with analytics on a few of my websites and most users use IE6 or IE7. Think about it, most users will stay with whatever browser comes with the computer when they purchase it. I’ve never tried Firefox or Opera. I am content with IE.

Most consumers are not tech savvy and will not install the new browser, unless it is combined into a package with the toolbar. Then who is to say that the integration and installation of the browser will go smoothly. At least Microsofts support is most always up to date and their is a supportive database for fixes.

It is always and most often the people that use the internet for some part of their job or business that use the other web browsers, like Opera or Firefox. I still believe Microsoft will be the dominant player in this space, as long as their operating system keeps it’s strangle hold on the PC OS marketplace.

Google needs to stick with it’s search functionality without venturing into software space because I think they are spreading themselves too thin and will find them in the same situation Microsoft and Yahoo are in within the future. Then again, the new browser is supposed to be another tactic for claiming more of the search space. Just a matter of choice.

just wanna toss this out there.. i’ve ALWAYS used IE, but when i heard about the firebug plugin for FF, i had to try and. I haven’t used IE since.. FF is faster, remembers my passwords ( i know there are other ways of doing that) But just being faster is enough for me.
    Lovin FF

I remain amazed by the number of IE6 users out there.

Sidebar: Did anyone ever notice that display options 4 and 5 in BANS never seemed to look right in IE6? Or was that just me or something I was doing wrong?

At any rate, IE6/IE7 will remain the big players. I grabbed a copy of Chrome and it is nice. Nothing great, but a very nice browser.

I really don’t mean this to be offensive……but anyone using IE explorer still in this day and age…..shouldn’t even be allowed on the internet.

Firefox with all of it’s addons and plugins is AMAZING compared to IE. I tried FireFox on a whim…because I saw no reason to change.

At first I was going to go right back but once you find out about Firebug, RankChecker, Screengrab, SEOQuake and the gillions of other simply awesome addons…..IE is in the crapper…where it belongs.

I have a special kind of hatred for IE6, as does anyone who builds websites.

    My 2 cents…..again don’t be offended….all in good fun.
