If you’ve visited the blogroll portion of this site down there in the lower right corner, you have probably made the trip over to Alan’s site, Affiliate Confession.
Please Note: This post was written Monday morning - right before I jumped into my car to go fishing for the week! it should have auto posted Tuesday morning.
For the past week or two, Alan has been working on a series of posts titled The Harsh Realities of Affiliate Marketing and this morning, he wrote a summary post to cover everything in one spot! His posts are a 7 part series that are very honest and frank discussions about some of the different things you can truly expect in this market. He covers everything from keywords to risk and failure, all of which we have or will, experience!
I have been a reader of Alans’ blog since I found his link in a comment on my own blog many months ago. Which brings up a great method for building the reader base of your own sites. Blog Commenting!
Building a Community of Readers
As we take on the next method of building websites over the next month, one of the methods we will be discussing is how to get more visitors to your new masterpiece blog! Surely, you don’t want to spend the time to build a community type website if you are the only person reading it! Gaining enthusiastic (I almost said “engaged”) readers and continuously interacting with those visitors should be one of your top priorities! After all, these are the same folks who are going to link to your site, or vote for it, on their own sites.
When I return next week, we are going to start with researching our market. During that research, we will run across many blogs and forums in our same niche market. I always setup a “favorites or bookmarks folder” for every one of my own websites and use it to bookmark these other websites for future reference. They are truly priceless for finding discussion topics and/or places to interact with others in your same niche.
Enjoy the week and let us know how you find places to read and/or comment in your own vertical market.

Alan’s series is awesome, and I have linked to it quite a few times myself!
To comment on your comment regarding commenting on other blogs (did you get that?) I found your blog through another blog, and found Alan’s blog through yours.. and you both have found mine through my commenting regularly on yours - it’s awesome and personally I find to be the most effective way to get targeted traffic to a new blog in a very short amount of time.
