I Lost My Wife to Her One True Love!

My wife Kim has been involved in this world of blogs of website building with me for many years! Between back office projects, tasks that I hate doing, and daily moral support, she is one of the reasons I continue to strive for success every day! Now… I’ve lost her!

For quite some time, we have been trying to help her find a niche that she loves and can also make a little bit of money at the same time… what she came up with resulted in the first project we are actually working closely together on, and continue to talk about every day!

This post is the story of how I lost my wife to her new passion… Coupon Kim

Why Her New Niche Site Works for Her!

The first and most important factor for her on her coupon site, was that she is interested in it! I am not talking about sometimes, but ALL the time! Any time Kim would go out shopping or find a deal online, she told me about it! She told me how the original cost was $xx and how she saved $xx on it by buying it here, there, or this way. Truly, I never really paid close attention. (BAD Husband, I know!)

Personally, I am not a saver… I see it, I want it, I buy it! My thoughts have changed drastically since watching her work her magic at the grocery and every other store, every week! Since she started blogging about saving money with coupons, it has literally saved us FAT amounts of cash! Originally, she started sharing some of her ways to save with a few friends on facebook… and from there, it was just natural to start a blog and make it easier!

Here is an example of the savings she generates… $150 worth of groceries for $25! I wish I could say exactly how she does it, but I am here to say she has cut our normal grocery bill of $200/week down to $50/week!

Why Her Site is a Success!

The common theme of loving what she blogs about is only one part of the equation, but contributes the most! She posts DAILY (Usually 3-4 times a day) about how anyone in any area of the country can save money with coupons, then goes on to explain exactly how to do it at the specific stores, on a daily or weekly basis!

She has also found several other blogs in the same niche and visits them daily, asking questions or contributing to their topics of discussion! People have taken notice and she has already been asked to be a featured guest on several blogs, helping their readers save like she does!

How She Went from Zero to 4000+ Daily Pageviews in Less than 1 Month!

Coupon Kim was actually built in mid April. Within just days of being a live site, she found herself answering hundreds of emails from new readers… and just started answering questions! Those questions led her to write specific blog posts on the topic, and it has just steamrolled from there.

Since launching the site – we have had t-shirts made that she wears while she shops! Not surprisingly, she was able to find a deal online and get her first t-shirt free from VistaPrint, so we could see how it looked and decide if she needed more! The attention she gets in the stores has been overwhelming, and in our local Lowes Food Store, she is talking with the manager about free coupon clinics each week!

Along with her free t-shirts, she also had VistaPrint print her out 250 FREE Business Cards!She casually hands these things out to everyone who asks what the site is about while she shops, and she also leaves one or two behind, just about everywhere we go! Don’t be surprised if you go into a Charlotte restaurant and a Coupon Kim card falls out of the menu when you pick it up! :-)

How She Makes Money with Her Site?!

As mentioned earlier – we spend ALOT of money on food and general household items. With a 4000 square foot house, a bunch of kids and kids friends, 2 dogs, and the fact that we like to eat alot, we were spending anywhere from $200-$250 every week on groceries, cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc…

She has cut the weekly cost to less than $50, and we are NOT sacrificing what we eat or how we live, just the opposite! A typical example of saving…

I LOVE Potato chips… I mean, I eat chips with chips! Well, she got me moved from Lays chips to Pringles. Not only are they healthier for me, they PAY HER to have me eat them! You see… she grabs a $1 off coupon and goes shopping on double or triple coupon day. The can of Pringles are 1.99 … so, on a double coupon day, she saves $2 per can! Doh! That’s free! When you take all these coupons each week and match them to the offers from the stores… you may end up shopping at 2-3 different stores for all your needs, but you end up getting 75% or more of your stuff for FREE! I was friggin shocked! Stockpile when the deals are good… :-)

So… right off the bat, her hobby earns $150+ ever week, just in savings alone! Add to that money the site earns on coupon feeds and the advertising offers she is already getting, and she has found her niche!
