As I was reading the PC mag earlier this week I stumbled upon an article about reading and contributing on the web… The majority of people, including power users, who browse the web do so by reading only and never really contributing their knowledge or thoughts. The magazine had the ratio at something like 95% of Internet surfers are readers only… imagine if more of us actually started blogging about our own skills and shared them with the world!
It made me realize that only about 10% of my time is spent writing… but I tend to read at different blogs about 4-5 hours every day! Yes, I even park a laptop in my recliner and read at night while watching my favorite TV shows… which are very few!
Today - I would like to get feedback from all of you and find out if you have a blog or forum or any other method of sharing your experiences with the web world. If so, I would truly love to read them and maybe we can even share links back to each other!
Let the blogroll begin!

I share a bit over on my personal site, as well as my day-to-day IM-related activities (or lack thereof) over on my Tumblr site.
Neither of them has a following that I see, but I didn’t create either of them for that. Both are more a personal reminder to at least act on a regular basis, which is my main handicap: I over-analyze actions to the point that often, I get nothing done.
Sean - Thanks for sharing the sites! I jumped over and did a bit of reading to find you using a CMS I have not seen… I assume it is mambo, or joomla (http://www.ugglystuff.com/) on the site?
Your blogs speak volumes to the meaning of my post - we can ALL find new ideas by seeing what our peers are doing themselves!
Thanks -
Mark
I have a blog about frugal shopping, but I did post recently about BANS and asked readers to check out my first store…was looking for some traffic, don’t you know!
Here’s my post: Have You Heard Of Build A Niche Stores?
Actually, most of my sites, including Uggly Stuff, use the same simple backend, which is a tweaked version of a free mashup script I picked up from another Mark at 45n5. I prettied it up, and use it to throw up sites insanely quick instead of parking them (which never has gotten me more than a few nickels). Each new one takes about 10 minutes, mostly spent gathering a handful of decent keywords. Not only do they convert better than simpler parking (ie Sedo or NameDrive or what have you), but they give me a good feel on which site deserves more intensive (ala BANS) attention, and which might be better left to have the trickle of Adsense try to earn the registration fee.
Hi Mark,
I don’t have a blog, yet. It’s on my list that keeps growing. I tend to procrastinate and over analyze everything to death. Then I try to get everything perfect before I move on. Problem is, I don’t know what perfect looks like. LOL With a blog, I can’t decide on a name, how to begin…
I have no idea how everyone gets their stores up and finished so quickly with all the mods and soe, articles… I am just about finished with my second site which is the one I added to your directory - thank you. First store has made a little money, second is just beginning to get some traffic. I’m thinking it might be a good time to start a blog on my experience so far and step by step walk through for my next site. Might keep me focused.
Sean, I checked your blogs out. You’re obviously one of the ones who gets it done! You’re stores look really good.
Maybe I should start that blog today. I seem to be a bit wordy. I’ll let you know.
One more thing, does everyone use their real names or tend to use pennames on the net activity?
