I’d like your help in deciding what to do with these URLs

Hello, Rochelle here.  Shortly after I purchased the BANS software I registered a good number of URLs without any consideration to the URL names. Some of them have turned out to be ok but some were very bad choices.

The really bad ones are ones where I had a specific idea in mind but the URLs don’t convey these ideas. So, I would like to hear from you what you think I should do with these URLs. I’m not going to tell you my original intentions because I don’t want to direct your thinking. I’m open to any and all suggestions as they may inspire me to actually do something with the URLs.

What would you make the focus of a BANS store for each of these URLS?

  • clothesyouwant.com
  • notjustforbaby.com
  • whatartistswant.com
  • whatfeetwant.com
  • whathomeswant.com
  • whatyardswant.com
  • whatyourpetswant.com

I look forward to seeing what other minds come up with for these because I’ve been sitting on these for too long.

Rochelle

whathomeswant.com : shutters, interior/exterior doors, window coverings, mailboxes, garage doors, garage door openers, lighting…

whatyardswant.com: swingsets, sheds, any type of grass/tree/shrub treatments, flowerpots, fencing, trimmers…

I actually have 1 domain that I originally purchased, but didn’t pan out and I got VERY dis-interested in it. I am wondering the same as Rochelle on what to do with it. I’ve looked at Wordtracker and really can’t find anything that’s worth going after…from a KEI standpoint.

    The domain is: http://www.ChevyTrucksDepot.com

(I checked out “Chevy” and it doesn’t look like a trademarked name as there are MANY domains with “Chevy” in them that I found)

Ok – i’ll be first cause I did the same thing on a few of the domains I registered too!

clothesyouwant.com – How about the most popular clothing broken down by Men, women, girls, teens, etc – Basically, whats “in” at the time.

    notjustforbaby.com – I have no idea!

whatartistswant.com – Artist supplies – brushes, paint, canvas, etc

whatfeetwant.com – Could be a broad niche like shoes, socks, etc. Or just a designer shoe niche site

whathomeswant.com – Again, pretty broad, but could be for items inside the house like paint, curtains, rugs, etc . OR it could be just items for outside – paint, shutters, doors.

whatyardswant.com – Yard furniture and patio sets OR brick, stone, etc to dress up the yard borders or sidewalks.

whatyourpetswant.com – Pet toys, treats, clothing, etc

Thats my 2 cents – hope it helps!

    A site selling adult diapers?

Eric and Kim – Good suggestions, all.

I’ve come to realize I don’t like broad BANS sites. Too much work to get one done and I don’t enjoy those. The highly focused sites are much easier for me to do and I like doing them. Weird.

I’ll develop some of these but may let a few of them die (such as notjustforbaby.com – what was I thinking??).

OMG! Good thing I didn’t have any liquids in my mouth when I read that or it would now be all over my computer!

That’s actually not a bad idea. There are diapers for babies, grownups, and even animals (I think). I’m impressed.

This has been a very entertaining post so far! LOL

Kim had told me from across our living room… I have ideas for the NotJustForBabies site, but didnt think she could list it here! LOL

@ Eric – ChevyTruckDepot… Go to eBay and type Chevy Truck into the search box. There are more than 100,000 listings with those two words. Instead of going after the word “Chevy”, try backing into the niche by looking at the actual names of what chevy truck owners are buying, and developing the site around those parts.

@ Rochelle – for clothesyouwant.com … just go pick up a copy of “People” or “Teen” magazine… I think I keep a fresh copy in my bathroom (I know, too much info) and read it during down time…

Look through the ads for clothing…. I think every pop start in the world is in the ads for “7 for all mankind, sketchers, Juicy Couture” etc…

I would use this site to incorporate a blog about hollywood stars and what they are wearing as well. There are hundreds of blogs that snap daily photos of star fashion trends.

I just got this thread sent to my inbox – without looking at anybody else’s opinions, here’s mine – I’ll read the other comments afterwards.

clothesyouwant.com – Really broadbased name, use it for a consignment store.

    notjustforbaby.com – Focus on Toddlers

whatartistswant.com – Easils? Brushes, what artists and painters use when making their prints, posters, paintings

    whatfeetwant.com – Generic Shoes

    whathomeswant.com – Interior decorating

whatyardswant.com – Yard Art, Yard sculptures, stuff you see in other peoples yards and your thinking why did they do that

whatyourpetswant.com – Make your pet the next Pet Diva! People buy that stuff for their pets – diamond collars, pet booties, unique pet stuff

For the whatfeetwant.com what about something to do with feet pedicures? I spotted alot of different types of foot baths, foot lotions, foot exfolants, those sock you wear over night with lotion in them to make yor feet soft, foot massagers, I bet if you looked you could find some gift certificates to a health spa to get a professional pedicure. I think pampering your feet is what they want to destress.

Hi Rochelle. My first thought for http://www.notjustforbabies.com would be a site selling products for both newborn babies and expectant mothers. Buyers looking for one would almost certainly be looking for the other as well. You could even use subdomains to set up more than one BANS store by major category……such as clothing, skin care, books & mags, etc…….

For whatfeetwant.com……I would totally agree with Michelle that’s a perfect domain for foot care products. You could even include a medical/diabetic foot care category….

For whatartistswant.com…….absolutely, artists’ supplies, books, easels, drafting tables, engraving tools, etc…

Hmmm – just had a thought for the clothesyouwant.com domain – you could aim it at the really high-end designer fashions that are on the runways right now. It should be possible to include really good content with news feeds and fashion vids.

If you don’t want to waste time on them, you could park them out at sedo.com or similar site. At least try to get your purchase price back with some parking income!! I’m just trying that with some of the clinker names I picked and before the names expire I’ll try to sell them. Just because I can’t use the names doesn’t mean that they won’t be good for someone else.

Same issue with me. Domains that just don’t click
I tend to look at things in a simple way. Each one of the domains has at least 1 or 2 good words to go after.

    clothesyouwant.com
Go after the most expensive cloths by designer

    notjustforbaby.com
Family heirlooms like silver spoons, picture frame, digital picture frames, quilts, blankies, bassinets, High quality baby furniture, Spy cams, monitors

    whatartistswant.com
There are painters, jewelry makers, glass blowers, candle makers, Try to think of ten mediums and list supplies for each as sub cats

whatfeetwant.com Designer shoes to custom foot beds for skiers and hikers. Foot massage. Anything for peds

    whathomeswant.com
For this one? Its so big I would start with remodeling and design. Slowly add categories. During economic times like this people remodel. I would want to land up with a full service remodeling site in a year. Design with CAD design software to the rug on the bathroom floor when the remodel is done. Soup to nuts we use to call it. Sell the SIZZLE. Plenty of ex-builders on the net to write articles and how-to’s
    OR just home accessories

    whatyardswant.com
Outdoor lighting, tools, door mats, (There’s a guy were I live that make $200 door mats and sells lots.) Shrubs, bulbs, Specimen plants, fertilizer, ride on mowers, tool sheds

    whatyourpetswant.com
Cloths, jewelry, boots, beds, custom dog houses, pens, carriers toys, self cleaning cat boxs, cat litter, cat food, dog food, pillows, pet water purifiers etc.

Another idea for whatfeetwant.com would be comfortable shoe brands such as Birkenstock,Bjorn,SAS,Echo, etc.

    Hi Rochelle

I agree with Ronni about notjustforbabies – I was given a tip by a midwife friend of mine back in England that the best thing you can do for a new mom is buy something for HER as opposed to the baby – everyone’s buying stuff for the baby, but what she wants is really nice new underwear (I’ve heard this from several of my friends), bath salts, foot spas – anything they can do to pamper themselves when they’re recovering from sleepless nights. And booze, of course, but you can’t sell that on eBay ;)

I’ve followed this advice and had many appreciative comments from girlfriends.
