Product Review Site Blueprint Builder – Next Week is For You!
Are you one of the many thousands who picked up a copy of the N1Way Guide and started building a network of Product Review Websites? If so, you may recall my effort to follow along the guide and build a few of my own over at N1WayGuide.com. During the 8-10 weeks I was building the new review site I shaped and honed a fairly precise method for choosing the right niche market and more importantly, finding the exact products you should target in your initial launch of the product review site.
At the time, I turned the research process into a service and called it a RankSpanker Report. Soon after, I started building a website around the eBay research method and planned on having a step by step, members only training product, where you could participate in the exact process and learn the best way to use Terapeak for eBay Research! Well… since ePN kinda turned the tables on many affiliates, I walked away from RankSpankers, and decided there would not be enough demand for me to invest more time in building a very detailed learning system for review website builders, since it was primarily focused around eBay research.
Since the learning site was already in development, I have a good bit of content that is doing nothing, and thought it would still be good to make public. Over the next week or two, I have a treat for you… the Review Site Builder will be moving to this site, no membership required.
What Is the Review Site Report Builder?
Most people who build a review site focus on one aspect of product research, the search demand. What I found building several of my own, is that search demand is not the key indicator you should focus on when you build a review site for eBay! Is it important? Sure, but instead of “Finding the highest demand products, and building a site around them”, the Review Site Builder works in a reverse fashion… “Finding the Best Selling Products – matching THOSE products to search demand, and Building a Review Site Around Them!” You may think that high search demand = high volume selling, but its not always the case!
The Review Site Builder BluePrint is a series of Proven and Logical Strategies, to help you determine the Exact Brands and Products you should Build your eBay Niche Review Website around, based on sales metrics first, and finally search demand! The idea is simple and has proven itself – ONLY Spend Time on What You KNOW you Can Sell!
What Will You Learn?
In less than just a couple hours, you will be able to find the best way to target a niche, the best selling products to review, and most importantly, the best products to focus on first, that are in high sales demand! Each of the six lessons below are made up of “Step by Step” processes you can take to complete the section, and each has several video screen-casts, where you watch me walk through 2-3 examples of each method!
- Intro to the Review Site Blueprint
- Understanding Your Type of Niche Market
- Evaluating Niche Market Sales and Viability (Deprecated to an extent)
- Finding the Brands That Sell
- Matching the Products to the Brands
- Power Ranking Your Results & Completing Your Review Site BluePrint
Is It Really Relevant with the QCP Model?
Of Course It Is! Since moving a few of the sites of my own to different programs, I have found the result is the same! If your site targets products that are the best sellers on eBay, and you target traffic that is looking for those products regardless of where they buy them, don’t you think that the combination would be a perfect match? Of the 200 or so RankSpanker reports I completed for others, I have heard nothing but success stores from the site owners who followed through with the marketing of their review sites! Several of the owners have reported GREAT ePN results or switched to Amazon, Shopping.com (An arm of eBay), and direct affiliations with programs in CJ, ShareaSale, Linkshare, etc.
Some of the examples I used for reference may have no limited factual value any longer, since I used sales volume as an overall indicator of the revenue you could earn. For example, the old method paid a percentage of the sales volume to affiliates, now its based on a formula of “Earnings = CPC X # of Clicks / Buying Actions / @!8Y%” For this reason, the Market Viability exercises are somewhat useless, but I left it in place anyhow.
Will You Need Anything to Use It?
There are very few resources to see ACTUAL sales metrics in the e-commerce world. Those you can find are priced well above the bar for someone building review sites… with one exception, Terapeak! If you don’t have a subscription to the TeraPeak service, the review site builder will not help you at all, since all of the sales metrics used to find the best selling products comes from their interface.
Just to bring more relevance to the Amazon program, I am also testing a few different methods of using the Amazon Product Tracking API, to make the results much more relevant to Amazon itself. Amazon however, does not seem to have a thorough resource that allows us to dig into the deep metrics like Terapeak does. If you know of one, please share it!
So… buckle up for a week or two of some GREAT “Learn to Build a Review Site” type articles for the time ahead of us!

I am looking forward to this training. Thanks for the post
Bring it on Mark!
I am positive this will be excellent stuff.
I already have my Terapeak sub in place based on your previous recommendations and it does pave the way to the items that sell rather than what you think will sell.
Great stuff Mark, looking forward to it!
I’ve done some of the beta testing on the RankSpanker system and I can attest the sites I have built using it ARE outperforming other sites I’ve set up and much quicker.
@ All –
The concept is sure to raise a few debates for sure – but I have found that sites developed after FIRST focusing on sales data, then attracting visitors to those items, perform considerably better than just chasing search demand!
There is a good bit of content ready to go for this… so it should go quickly through the entire week to 10 days.
Jeff – I know you found the content very useful and I was glad to hear it when you did!
Mark
Mark,
You rock! This is very generous of you to share with us, and that’s saying something, since you already know I think very highly of your generosity.
Rochelle
Awesome – you have me all excited-I can’t wait!
No optin for this one?
You might be missing a trick there Mark!
@Rochelle – Thanks Rochelle!!
@Nadiya – Glad to see ya Nadiya, hope the week proves to be helpful!
@Tao – I DID think pretty hard about requiring an opt-in Tao… since originally, it was on a members only site.
I have never really focused much on building a list though… so I decided to just put it out there and see how it goes! :-)
Mark
I can’t wait! eBay has been a problem for me since they changed and Amazon has never worked as well as straight affiliate review sites.
I respect your commitment to continue to help us change for the better.
Hi Mark,
I know you may be leaving this site for a new job opportunity. I was just wondering if you were going to be able to finish up the report: Power Ranking Your Results & Completing Your Review Site BluePrint
I’ve learned a few things from you and would like to say thanks for all that you have done.
@Erick – Hey Erick – I actually started it several weeks ago and being sidetracked is not why Its not done. I THOUGHT I had already posted more about it but I guess not.
Just to clear it all up – I will have the post completed within 1-2 days…
To summarize however – The Overall Power-Rank, is the same as it is in the brands that sell post, just broken a bit deeper.
Sorry about that – you aren’t the first person to ask.
