Is Matt Cutts Wearing a Black Hat?

mattcutts.jpgOf Course Not!

We all know and listen to the very useful advice of Matt Cutts from the Google WebSpam team. I recently wrote a post about how thin affiliate websites are dead and as I was doing so, I noticed something a bit different on one of Matts blog posts.

Why did Matt write the url permalink the way he did?

www.mattcutts. com/blog/free-search-seo-videos/

It looks more like keywords than the actual title of the post!

The post itself mentions nothing about FREE Search Videos, FREE SEO Videos, nothing. Granted, url structure is important, but does this get a bit into what we are advised not to do?

It should also be noted that on Matts Blog, he only uses the title meta tag versus title, description and keywords. His URL looks to have the keywords in it versus a straight up description of the post itself. Could this be a good example of what we should try to do with our site URL’s?

I know I’m confused by it! Whats your take?

That could trully be a small hint how to design your permalinks. Maybe we should give this a try ;) Thanks for this useful post Mark.

Maybe, he is testing something. Looks like how keywords in URL affect your search rankings irrelevant of the content.
