More Free Build a Niche Store BANS templates - Come and Get Em!

March 13, 2008

Hi Everyone - Today, I took the basic BANS template I have sent out a few times and colored a set of 6-8 free bans templates for you all to use on your stores! Just like the originals, I only ask that you leave the credits in the footer, although not required. :-)

Note: These free bans templates use a small search box on the left menu, that code is NOT in BANS 2.0, thus they are BANS 3.0 ONLY templates. If you want to use them in your 2.0 stores, just remove the search section in the header.php file.

    Thanks Mark. I am modifying the drkbrown template and wanted to let you know that you have everything pretty well spelled out and I need that.

    I put up a new BANS site today and used v3. It’s going pretty good so far.

    Mark,

    I am an old fud trying to figure this all out and I must say I am lost most of the time
    I downloaded the free templetes and I thank you for your work but I have no idea how to use them. Do I need to upload to a bans store?
    Cannot seem to find the key to even look at them.

    Be very careful how you answer, I have more questions than you can imagine. I am working to learn the basics of linking but I am not sure I have a good handle on the basics of building a good store.
    Any way thanks for the opportunity to learn all of this. You know they say you cannot teach an old dog new tricks but I am out to prove them wrong.

    Is there a place where the templates can just be viewed, or do they need to be downloaded/unzipped/installed??

  4. Thomas Sinfield on March 13th, 2008 8:54 pm

    Yea a preview would be nice thanks…

  5. Bill on March 14th, 2008 8:27 am

    @ Jerry. Your never to old for this. Just stick with it and it will come to you. A year from now you will be answering this very same ?
    If you downloaded the file you can open it to look at the different parts. I did. Right click on the file and open. click on themes then images and the template should be in there.
    Hope that helps =)

    Thank you Mark. I’m working on using the dk red and orange. Still have to add header pics. You make everything so simple and easy to follow.

    Hi Mark, How can I get my left store’s google ads down to where they are supposed to be? This is what I’m talking about
    http://toyzonwheels.com/
    I figured out how to do the right side, buthe left is giving me some problems.

    Thanks!

    Hello,
    I’m sorry to ask here, but I really don’t know where to go else. I have a problem with BANS v3 and when I go to the forum (http://buildanichestore.com) it’s saying:

    This Account Has Been Suspended, Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible.

    Any idea what’s happening? Is Adam and Kevin out of business now?

    Thanks,
    Mik

    I figured it out, I was putting the code between here:

    Instead of here:

    /images/ad-left-blank.jpg” />

    It took me a while to catch on, and then I had a light bulb typr moment.
    I love your blog, and follow you and Rochelle.

    Hi, I have a quick question about how to control the positioning of the drop menu. I would like to position it just above or below my image. Can you help point me at the right bit of code?
    cheers

    Gerry

    Oops! Ignore my last comment as I spotted it in the css file

    Mark,

    Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! These templates are just what I needed to make my sites come to life! And I absolutely love the comments you placed in the html — it made it so easy to find the location to paste cj and google ads.

    Here’s a couple of my projects that you have walked me through creating with your blog entries. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

    I put a banner ad in the logo under the site title in the “gads” area. Unfortunately, this is specified as an absolute position in the style.css and consequently changes screen position when you change your window size. As a fix, go to admin:template:style.css and change the #gads section as follows:

    #gads {
    padding-top: 0px;
    padding-right: 0px;
    padding-bottom: 7px;
    padding-left: 20px;
    position: relative;
    top: 45px;
    left: -382px;
    }

    This fixes the banner position :)

    Hi Mark ~ First of all Thank You very much for the templates! I am finally going to get up my nerve and update one of my stores to the new EPN update. It says in the Read Me file:

    If you have modified the index.php or FrontControl.php files then updating your store to the new “eBay Partner Network” will overwrite these files and you will lose the modifications you have made.

    Will the template still work after I upgrade? Thanks! Suzanne

  19. Mark on April 9th, 2008 4:09 pm

    @ Suzanne -

    Thank you…

    The templates are fine after the update. Completely unaffected.

    Mark

  20. Suzanne on April 9th, 2008 4:48 pm

    Wow! Thanks for the quick response! I know just enough to be dangerous … I still can’t get my new store up with the v3EPN to work … errors everywhere … no reply to my trouble ticket … *sigh* You’re a bright spot in my day ;) *SmiLes* Suzanne

    Press the contact link in the top of this page and send me the url of the site…

    I’ve got the template uploaded, but I can’t get the color to work for some reason???

  25. Paul on April 23rd, 2008 8:31 am

    Thanks for the free templates. I really like the design.

    I have a google ad size 728×90 on one of your free templates in the “gads” position and it is a little too high.

    What do I need to do to drop it down and center it in the ad space?

    http://www.4gracie.com

    Thanks

  26. Sherrin on April 23rd, 2008 4:40 pm

    @ Paul - There is probably a better way to do it, but I put before the ad code. Sometimes I have to use 2, each one causes a line break pushing it down..

    Sherrin

  27. otis on April 24th, 2008 9:27 pm

    @Paul ,in the style sheet if the template go to the section
    #gads {
    padding-top: 0px;
    padding-right: 0px;
    padding-bottom: 7px;
    Try changing the padding top to 10 px then update and see if that helps remember the original # so you can change back if needed.

  28. Sherrin on April 25th, 2008 8:25 am

    @Paul - thank you, I knew there had to be a better way than the one I was using.

    Hey Mark-
    I am using the pink template for one of my sites and it looks great! Thank you. I am now trying to use your green template but all I get is error signs. I am uploading the green just the same as the pink but cant get it to work. What am I doing wrong?
    Jamie

  30. Mark on May 7th, 2008 8:40 am

    @ Jamie -

    Use the contact form to send me the admin info for your BANS site and I will take a look.

    Or - activate the template and send me an email to go look at.

    Hi Mark,
    I hate to ask a really dumb question, but I can’t seem to find the link to download the templates.

    Could you (or anyone else who knows) please point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Shelley

  32. Denise on May 24th, 2008 6:05 am

    Hi Shelley

    There are several links but non seem to be working at the moment. However, on this page immediately below the templates you will see “Free Build a Niche Store BANS templates”. If you click only on the word “Free” you should get the download. If you click the whole phrase it takes you to an order form.

    There is also a link on the RH side of every page under “Niche Builder Categories”, and there are a couple of links under “Archives” at the top of every page, but these are not working at the moment.

    The templates are fantastic - I’ve used them several times - perfect for someone like me who has not yet learnt how to make headers.

    Denise

  33. Shelley on May 25th, 2008 8:12 pm

    Hi Denise,

    Thanks for the tip….downloaded and taking a look now.

    Cheers

    Thanks!!! Great Job

    Mark,

    Sorry this is most-likely a stupid question and one already answered but I can’t see the wood for the trees so to speak.

    I’ve installed and used 2 of your great free templates on 2 BANS sites I have. I want to add some adverts under sponsored links but have no idea how to. Can you point me in the right direction please.

    Thanks.

  36. Chris on July 4th, 2008 9:53 am

    Sorry to ask a dumb question, but where do I get the templates? I see the preview but how do I load into my BANS?
    Thanks

  37. Mark on July 4th, 2008 10:04 am

    @ Chris -

    Right below the last preview, there is a link to the template files.

    Save the zip archive to your local system extract them, and load the template you want to use onto your hosting account.

    Once you have the template(s) loaded, you have to login to your BANS admin and select it.

    Nice templates. Just wish I had found them earlier! Thanks for the free download.
