Earlier this week, I wrote a post about the PepperJam Affiliate Network
signing on to deliver content through the eBay Partner Network. Today, many of us were notified by Adam and Kelvin, Developers of the Build a Niche Store affiliate software, that there will be new version of BANS available very soon, that will work in conjunction with the PepperJam Network.
To us… this means that there will be a way to use BANS with the PepperJam EPN Program! (I can hear screams of joy!)
The first question we must all ask ourselves is WHY? Why would it be a benefit to sign up at PepperJam and go through the process of changing out our BANS sites to work with the new program?
Since April 1st and the transition of the eBay affiliate program to its own tracking, there have been MANY people, including myself, slightly worried about the way eBay has tracked and paid out commission. As many of you already know, eBay has admitted EPN tracking issues and is at work to eliminate them, but what about a way to reinvigorate the affiliates out there who have lost trust?
Enter… The PepperJam Network eBay Affiliate Program for BANS
Aside from the increased payouts in the PepperJam eBay Program (Read More), the main benefit to us will be in the way we can monitor and track our PepperJam based BANS sites and have a third party involved for transparency!
At this point, the Pepperjam EPN system works perfect with phpBay pro, a very popular plugin for WordPress that you will learn MUCH MORE about here very soon, to display auction listings on your blog, but we will have a version of BANS soon as well! Stay Tuned!
Signing up for PepperJam is FREE… and once you are a member, you can join the program for the EPN system. I have also found that PepperJam has quite a growing list of sites and offers to choose from other than eBay, so its well worth being a part of!

Mark, did u ever get approved for Ebay over @ PJ ? I signed up as soon as they anounced and still pending..
I am so happy. I just read the email from Adam and Kelvin, and something told me to come by your site Mark because I know how on top of things you are… And here we go! You’re like a news reporter who is always around the right corner when the action happens.
I was denied eBay Pepperjam because my main store is a CA store, and so far PJ EPN is only running US. So I guess I can apply for my US stores while I’m waiting.
Question, Is it possible to convert a store from CA to US? I can’t find instructions anywhere on the BANs forums.. maybe I missed it.
Thanks!
@ Jeff -
Yes, I was just approved over the weekend. (It took about 1 week) At this point, the only way I can find to use the program is through phpbay and the creatives through Pepperjam.
I am in the middle of building an ALL-Inclusive site using all forms of promotion for the EPN. I will have a post about this before long…
@ Eliajah -
I do not know about converting a store from CA to US. Is your domain a .ca domain? If not, and you have a .com… I will be covering this in the same post I mentioned to jeff above.
Mark
Good news indeed!
It’ll be even better when Pepperjam support eBay world-wide. At the moment it’s only US.
The site I’m referring to is a .com, so I will stay tuned for that post. Thanks!
I was excited at 1st but found out Pepperjam still depends the EPN tracking network so how is this a cure? Pepperjam is an EPN affiliate just like us but pays its subscribers the difference. This will make things easier for ebay since affiliates will funnel their links through pepperjam’s EPN account, but for affiliates this will complicate things further. First have to worry about the accuracy of EPN, then you have to worry about Pepperjam properly converting the links and keeping track of these conversions. More steps = more room for error! This might be giving desperate people false hope.
Hi Mark,
I was reading a post over in the EPN forum about Pepperjam and there were a number of people saying that there are major concerns for affiliates who sign up through PJ instead of Ebay.
Basically they are saying that if PJ has any affiliates who do the wrong thing and get banned, that this ban can roll through to all affiliates.
I think the general gist was that PJ is the affiliate and everyone else is a sub affiliate and hence PJ is responsible for everyone.
Do you know anything about this?
Thanks
Shelley

i went on their website yesterday and got on the chat with them, VERY NICE FOLKS! She took a look at one of my sites and approved me then and there!! COOL!!
Looking forward to the post …

With so many folks asking for an outside source to help them track EPN clicks, the PJ network will do just that!
You will be able to compare site traffic on similar sites, and see if the numbers jive.
For example, if you have 2 sites in completely different markets, each showing 1000 clicks per day. You should be able to obtain a comparison of click/buy rate, ACRU’s etc.
If one of the two accounts shows a noticable discrepancy, it will at least give you a starting point to either look through your own site for errors, or speak to someone in either of the programs about the difference.
Like any form of tracking, having 2 separate ways to compare can only help. Overall, I think the EPN directly through eBay is still going to be the most common choice, having different sites through the PJ network can help measure effectiveness!

I read that same post and have actually sent another Q&A to my PJ account rep for clarification.
I am sure there is a process in place between PJ and EB, to assure anyone who may be abusing the system is segregated out of the program, versus a lump-sum account shut off.
I can’t see PJ taking the time and expense of building the framework to manage a program of this magnitude, without having some safeguards in place.
I will share what I learn when I hear anything.

When I initially read that eBay is planning on adding the Pepperjam option..I was really excited. However, I will reserve judgement because I’ve been burnt before. (EPN)
I’m really, really hoping this Peperjam option is:
1. easy to update current stores
2. works better than EPN
….I’ve been out of the BANS game for a while now due to the EPN disappointments…but I think I’m ready to rejoin the group!
