Hi all,
Version 3 of BANS is now available but I suggest you read what I wrote at Mods that will require redoing after updating to v3 of BANS before you update your sites. Doing so may save you aggravation.

And where is this info?
The link is above. Look for the underlined text that reads, “Mods that will require redoing after updating to v3 of BANS”

Yes, I clicked that before. It takes me to the page that basically repeats the same thing but gives not details. It just says:

With the link taking my back to this entry.
Hank,
Try now. I usually create my posts using Dreamweaver but didn’t this time. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it but could be. I rewrote it with Dreamweaver.

Thanks, that did it!
So…is anyone else SCARRED TO DEATH to switch over to BANS 3.0?
I know I am….
Yep, well I tried and my original site, The Seahorse Shop, which I put up just over a week ago, is now all screwed up. Adam is looking into it tomorrow. I’m going to look through Mark and Rochelle’s stuff and see if I can fix it before then, but I’m sad. Did a lot of backlinks and am worried this mess-up will cost me. :(
Am now too scared to try it on Seahorses For Sale, but did actually install my new site Doctor Who Auctions with BANS 3.0 and really like the new Admin panel. I know I’m a newbie, but already I can see how great the new version is. No more worries about deleting categories etc.
I actually held off on creating certain sites because I knew they needed some of the features of v3.0 and I’m always leery about making major changes like this. From past experience, I know that if it CAN go wrong, it WILL go wrong for me. So none of my v2.0 sites will be converted.
But I really like the new admin panel so I’m working on 2 new sites right now.

Marilla,
Oh, your poor site! I have no idea how to fix that one. This happened from updating a v2 site?
Will you please post Adam’s solution? It might help someone with the same problem. I hope it doesn’t take too long to fix.
If it makes you feel any better I was a beta tester and I upgraded my flagship store (my My Little Pony site). Everything looked great. Then, today, I read on the forum that some people’s auction links weren’t working. So, I tried mine and, sure enough, none of my auction links work. That explains the EXTREME dip in sales I’ve had recently.
Anyway, I’m sure your backlinks will be ok. I look forward to seeing your seahorse store.
I don’t know if you are up to trying again, but perhaps reinstalling the files and updating from scratch might work? It’s worked for me, though I’ve not had the errors you are having.

Wel I upgraded 10 sites this morning aand it went really well I was amazed…. Then bam it hit me like a steam train 8 of them have dropped out of googles index. I think it is beacause they already had ann xml sitemap and there seems to be some kind of conflict.
I suppose I will have to rebuild and hope to get them back, half of them are pr2
@ Rochelle
Sure thing! I will post Adam’s solution if he sends me details of what he did. I tried again this evening (he’s asleep in England) with the update following Mark’s process and got the exact same result. :(
I’m not touching my other 2.0 site (www.seahorses-for-sale.com) – too scared right now! But I’m not down on 3.0 – I’m loving what it’s doing for my Doctor Who site!
If Adam’s help doesn’t work and I have to uninstall the whole thing I may be coming back for some help!
My site is back up! Adam fixed it all up and upgraded it to 3.0 – I’ve asked him to let me know what he did so that everyone can benefit from it, and also so if I do take the plunge and upgrade seahorses-for-sale I can fix it if things go awry!
Marilla,
Glad to see your site is back up. I love your sea horse for sale niche! I had NO idea one could buy seahorses on eBay. Much luck to you with that.
