Created BANS site on 01/25/2008

Costs: $8.95 total$7.95 +/- domain name

$1.00 +/- to park at WhyPark.com

Earnings: $14.07 total (As of 02/24/2008)

$2.24 from Google’s AdSense (from time on WhyPark.com)

$11.83 from BANS (just one sale and it was niche related)

Notes:This site is one of the many URLs I purchased before I knew what I was doing and it isn’t a great one. I have focused it on cell phones, accessories, and ringtones but you wouldn’t know it is a cell phone store from the URL. I may or may not keep it come URL renewal time. Depends how it does. That being said, it has already paid for itself with the only commission I’ve gotten from the store so I’m pleased about that.

    Rochelle,

With your first site…the Ringtones one…your right hand ad column isn’t displaying properly. You may need to cut the width down a bit….I’m using IE.

Eric – How very strange. It looks ok to me in IE. What part doesn’t look right to you?

Nevermind…looks ok now! Must’ve been my computer at work…..?

I hate to seem stupid…but it is what it is.

Could you explain what you mean by this:

“Purchased link on 09/29/2007 and immediately parked URL on WhyPark.com.”

Purchased a link from where? And parked which URL on WhyPark?

    Thanks!

    Honey

Honey – That’s not a stupid question and I apologize for not explaining what I meant. At some point I will write instructions on using a domain parking service but am not sure when.

I purchased the URL notonlyringtones.com from GoDaddy. After I purchased it I added the URL to my WhyPark account. WhyPark is a service that puts articles and AdSense ads (using your Google account info) on your URL.

The point is to get the URL listed in search engines while time passes. Best case scenario I make money with the AdSense ads (which I did for this URL, though not much).

The benefit of using this service is that it puts content (WhyPark adds the content based on keywords I enter for each URL) on the site and this content gets the site indexed. Since I’m not using each URL I purchase as soon as I purchase it I can park it at WhyPark and possibly earn some money. And, the benefit for BANS sites, the site ages.

Why is this important? Hopefully it will already be past the Google Sandbox stage by the time I am ready to build a BANS site on the URL and hopefully get traffic right away.

This was true with notonlyringtones.com. It was already indexed and I started seeing traffic pretty quickly after setting up a store on it with no promotion to date.

    Hey Rochelle,

Can you tell me how you got copies of your cpanel stats to include here? Do you use a particular screen capture tool or can I do it with just my PC? I tried shift+print screen pasted into a Word document but that isn’t making a decent copy.

    Thanks

    Cindy

Cindy – It was really quite simple. I copied the images from my cPanel, logged into this blog and chose ‘Write a new post’ (or whatever it’s called) and pasted it directly into the text area. I don’t know why this worked because normally that type of thing doesn’t but it worked here.

    Rochelle,

How do you copy images from your cpanel? I don’t see an option to copy an image either by right clicking or from the file drop-down. I’ve tried everything I can think of … and I’m sure I’m just overlooking the obvious.

    Thanks!

Cindy – From what I recall I highlighted the images by holding down the left mouse button and dragging my mouse over the images I wanted. After it was highlighted I let go of the left mouse button, moved the mouse somewhere over the highlighted area, and then clicked the right mouse button (if the area becomes unhighlighted then try again). Then I choose ‘Copy’ from the options that pop up.

After I have copied it I go over to the blog and paste it there (I think you know that part so I’m not detailing it but if you need it just let me know).
