Slimming Down is NOT An Easy Thing to Do!

So.. its been only 2-3 days since I mentioned I am going to be eliminating a good portion of the websites and/or domains Kim and I try to take care of. I am finding that its just NOT an easy task to pick and choose which to keep and which to let go of! Also – On Monday, I am going to complete the next post in the Moving from BANS to phpBay series.. stay tuned!

I am not going to list ALL of my sites below… but you will soon see why this is such a dilemma!

A Few of the Definite Keepers

My list of definite keeper sites, means the sites I will look at on a daily basis! Whether that is posting new content, assisting readers, or promoting on one way or another, these sites will be considered the bread and butter!

1. Niche Store Builder (Blog)
   Of course, I am not doing anything with this site!
2. Script Critics (Blog)
   The JV with Jeff and Rochelle is actually one of my top priorities in 09… Once I get all this other crap out of the way, I will blog there at least 2-3 times every week!
3. WebHVAC (Blog / ePN / Ad Space)
   This domain was a leftover from our brick and mortar e-commerce and ebay business (Along with 9 other HVAC Domains) several years ago. I plan to put this site into FULL TILT and eventually sell it, with the entire group of domains! ALL of the domains in this class are 1-2 word .coms, with moderate traffic.
4. Hit Doctor Website Directory
   Definite keeper! I have had this domain for several years and aside from the directory, it has MANY possibilities! As a directory, it gets about 400 hits every day and is hit by the three major player bots every 10-15 minutes, looking for new sites in the directory!

Along with these, there are 4 other Definite Keepers ! :-)

Sites I MAY Find a Way to Keep!

OK – so you saw the short list of the ones I am definitely keeping above… what about the next group, which are the sites I REALLY want to keep, but just don’t have enough hours in the day!

Sites in this list will just end up being outsourced with fresh monthly content or sold to the highest bidder when I decide to move them at the end of the month. I wish it was as easy as just selling them… but alot of the content, or backend, was coded for myself to understand, or is controlled by commercial plugins that I cannot sell with the sites. It may take me several hours of training to help someone else understand how to update the sites! :-)

Ideally – If I sell them, it will be the domain names and content only, but the commercial backend stuff will be removed.

1. Polemics – Home Grown theme, NO monetization at all on the site!
2. Grill Auctions – 100% BANS
3. Titanium Drivers – 90% BANS, 10% CarP for the reviews
4. iPowr – Nice article directory using the phpOStock plugin and Caffinated Content!
5. Fake Affliction (Averaged 75-100 daily uniques over past 4 months, but JUST took a ranking hit – not deindexed, but needs unique content to survive)
6. Fine Designer Shoes – Too much to customization to list about this one
7. DIY Reviews – Anyone remember this brainstorm? This site is fairly busy, but somewhat complex to run.
8. Hybrid Golf Network Lets see… BANS, WPReview Site, phpBay, phpOStock, phpAmazon, CarP, etc… Need I go on!
9. Obama Foreclosure Plan – Don’t laugh… the site does VERY well for being less than 2 months old… its all about timing!
10. How To Articles Network – Nice aged domain… that truly takes care of itself! It just needs to be monetized better, and I have not spent the time on it!
11. HVAC Reviews – Good traffic on this one, but I am already overcooked on the HVAC market! I will likely just outsource the content on this one and let it do its own thing.

Along with the 12 above – there are 14 additional sites in this category of “Please – Can’t I just keep it?”

What about Joint Ventures?

I have already talked to a few of you who asked about doing JV type setups with several of the sites above. On some that I just don’t want to lose the domain names (I’m a domain name whore) I am looking at loading up a few special sauce scripts I have in my bucket, that allow revenue sharing. Before the end of the month… I will put up a list of sites I am going to JV on.

For me, its about saving time… So I have to weigh all the factors before I decide to go that route on  a domain by domain basis!

Hows that for a friggin nightmare in my head! LOL
