Update about Custom eBay Banners

Someone brought to our attention that eBay is now requiring affiliates to use their (eBay’s) banners instead of using custom made banners.  eBay’s TOS goes on to say that all custom banners must be approved before they can be used.  Well, reading this made me sweat more than a little because I created my own banners that I use in each of my stores.  I adjust the colors of the banners to match the color theme of each store so they blend in with the sites.

The day I joined eBay’s new affiliate program I sent an email asking for approval.  I just now received their answer: My banner is approved.  Woohoo!!  So, don’t forget to email eBay for approval on any custom banners you want to use.

To contact eBay about this you need to log in to your EPN affiliate account.  Click on the ‘Help’ link in the upper right corner, then click the ‘User Manual.’ link.  This will open the manual in a new window or tab.  In the manual click the ‘Tools’ link, then the ‘Link Generator’ link.  Look on the right side, where the description of the link generator tool is, and scroll all the way to the bottom.  Click the ‘Do you have a question on this topic?  Contact us’ link and submit your request to them.

    Rochelle,

When you emailed eBay asking for approval did you send them directly to one of your BANS sites where they could view the logo you created or did you send them an image inside the email?

    Thanks

    Mark,

I sent them a link to one of my stores with the banner I wanted approved. The email included a description of the banner, in case they couldn’t tell what I meant.
