Using Firebug to Breakdown the WordPress Layout

As we start Integrating WordPress templates for Build a Niche Store, the first thing we need to do is understand how the templates were assembled in the first place! This is where FireFox and great little plugin named FireBug come into play! Its not a bad idea for you all to open the Firefox browser and the plugin and look around on sites that you like the design. In a very short time, you will start to see the way pages are setup without even using the plugin!

So far I’m not finding Firebug that useful. It seems to focus on only little areas and I can’t tell where I am in the document. The other thing when inspecting the code stuff, it doesn’t tell you which file or level you’re in. Maybe I’m not using it right,

It’s like trying to drive across the country when you know what street you’re on, but you have no clue what state you’re in!

Once again, thanks Mark. This is exactly the kind of stuff I’ve been wanting to learn. You break things down really well and explain things clearly. I’m learning a lot from you.

I am new to all this so first let me thank you for the detailed breakdown of all the steps… you’re a legend!

One thing I missed and cannot seem to locate is the niche store code we need to insert into the side-bar menu of the wordpress blog page. Could you please post it here or email it to me?

    Thanks mate… be magnificent!

    Kind Regards,
    Paul
