Using SubmitEdge for Directory Submission

March 23, 2008

Happy Easter! I found many of you had questions about how to properly submit your sites to directories, using SubmitEdge. First let me say that the links and banners on this site DO CONTAIN affiliate codes. I mentioned this once before, but I guess its worth mentioning again.

ANY resource you see listed on this site are actual tools I use myself for building, promoting, tacking and researching my own sites. I post the banners as a method to make it easier for you to find them and if there is going to be banners, I may as well setup affiliate programs with them. You are welcome to go directly to the sites if you prefer…

Back to the video… it is a short 9 minute clip, showing just how quick and easy submit edge is to use for site submission.

Mark, as always, great info! I have learned soo much from your website and a great big THANKS for the email responses as well..

couple of questions.. after I’ve used submitedge to submit my site,
1 - how long do i wait before i submit it again at submiedge or do i submit it again?

2 - kind of along the same lines of question 1, if i add new store pages to my site, do i need to resubmit and again, how often.

Thanks again for ALL your help!

    @ Jeff

Happy Easter to you as well Jeff - On a sidenote, I have replied to several emails to you that have been returned from your host.

In regard to the Directory Submission - I would do it once and be done with it… The main purpose is to get your site indexed ASAP… and get some generic incoming links.

    Its kinda like a JUMPSTART!

btw, i submitted my 2 sites to the Niche site directory.. i was going to give you some props by adding your link to my footer but not quite sure where to put it.. i did paste just before the “copyright” and it put it in there but now my site doesn’t show the powered by ebay link?
    suggestions?
    THANKS!

Its probably pushing it down or to the side were you can’t read it. Cant remember which but try or in between.
I’m sure there will be a better answer coming

@ Jeff, Sorry about that. I put tags to try but they must be disabled

  6. Juzaily on March 23rd, 2008 11:21 pm

Hi Mark, great stuff. May I ask why did you put http://buymantelclocks.com without the www? Is there a reason for it? Or it won’t make much differences?

    Cheers.

Hope you didn’t eat too too many easter eggs Mark.

Thanks for the great video. I have been putting off using a directory submission service but you have me convinced it’s ok.

I heard you mention your affiliate link but I don’t actually see it list here. I expected it show at the end of your video.

Would you take a minute and add it to your post or as a response to my comment please.

If you do all the work to tell us about I am sure others would love to click your affiliate link, so I will wait until I hear back from you.

Have a great day in the meantime.

    @ James -

    Thanks for the nod!

I redesigned the blog over the lasp week… put the new theme in place yesterday and completely forgot about the submitedge banner!!

It is on the right side resource section.

    Thanks again,

    Mark

    @ Juzaily -

www or not www is a question I often ask myself as well!! ALL BANS and most other websites, are seen both ways… The buymantelclocks was already starting to be indexed without the www, so I kept that practice for the directory submission.

I have about a 50/50 mix on my own sites and one way is no more beneficial than the other, as long as you maintain the naming standard for all your inbound links.

    Hi Mark

First, what a fantastic series of tutorials! Thanks for sharing this info.

I’ve been following your blog for a couple of weeks and am struggling to find a new description for each category page.

I have a question. You stress the importance of keyword rich descriptions of each category and I have been trying to do this, but, I have to admit, I find this task boring!
However, I notice on this video that your descriptions are all the same apart from the name of each type of mantle clock. Is it OK to do it this way or are you going to build these out later?

    Jack

  11. Mark on March 24th, 2008 11:55 am

@ Jack - No question… it can be as boring as heck!

In regard to the meta-descriptions - as long as they are page unique, they are fine. I will generally shoot out a group of them immediately, and as the first 30 passes, spend a bit of time customizing them throughout the site.

When I cannot find a use for a high KEI phrase or keyword I tested incorporating the word or phrase into my content for a particular page and just like a mete title the phrase was found by search engines very quickly. Does this kind of keyword inclusion work for directory submissions as well??

  13. Stanley on March 25th, 2008 12:03 am

I have used submitedge before and thought they offered a good service but frankly after i found directory maximizer, i found the service they offered was more convenient to use primarily because they kept track of everything for me and would inform me of newer directories i could submit to every time. Submit edge worked out cheaper though and I’d still say it’s a good service to use, just that DM worked and felt better for me.

    @ Otis -

    VERY Good Tip Otis!

Along with your directory submissions, use it on other sites you are getting inbound links from as well!

The important thing is to try and make the landing page (your site page) relevant to the term as well.

    @ Stanley -

I also use WEBCeo for MANY directory submissions… I will talk about that later today though. :-)

Bottom line… one way or another, get yourself some type of method for directory submissions!

Good tip Stanley - Thank you

I just used Submit Edge for 2 different BANS sites I have….one for my Niche Series site…and another for a pre-existing BANS site I had that actually was doing very, very well until I got “sandboxed” by Google…or whatever you want to refer to it as.

I’m hoping the 100 directory links I’m getting will help it out a bit…it went from page 1 (position 4) to around PAGE 4 or 5, depending on what day you look at it. :( …so pretty much non-existant.

…and it’s a PR 3 site! …can’t help but feel like I’m being penalized for some non-visible, “HTML” stuff that I’m not aware of….

I, too, have learned tons just from reading and following this blog. A big thank you to Mark for boundless generosity and wisdom!

I followed your suggestion, Mark, about SubmitEdge, and submitted one site a few weeks ago. It’s taken a bit of time, but I’ve seen my visitor count nearly double and it’s on page one in Google AND Yahoo for several keywords phrases, including some I didn’t know I was targeting!

It was also thanks to a recent video here that I learned how to check out my stats in cpanel. When I did, I discovered the MSN bot hadn’t even been there and the site’s almost 5 months old now!

Fortunately, Mark had a link that took me right to MSN’s page where I could sign up and submit my sites!

Also, (last thing, I promise) I’m having a horrible time with a flash header that won’t show up in FF. Been begging for help in the forum and just can’t seem to get it. If anybody knows anything at all about flash stuff…please fire me an email at nursehoney@gmail.com. My whole site’s on hold until I get this fixed. It shows up just fine in IE, but in FF it’s a big blank space!

Thanks y’all! Boy am I looking forward to a forum here!

    Honey

    Hi Mark

Another great video - and thanks for clearing up that point about not submitting to too many sites at once - I used SubmitEdge for my first BANS site and then freaked out that I done something wrong! I was very pleased with their service and will use them again, although I think it’s useful to do a little submitting manually so you can get a feel for how these things are done.

    Catching up….slowly! ;)

[…] I finally submitted this site to directories using SubmitEdge. I use SubmitEdge because  its easy, quick and personally, I HATE submitting my sites. Its time consuming and I feel there are other places I can be spending my time (even if it is watching Big Brother!) LOL. It only cost $15 and to me, well worth the money! Like I said before, its very simple to use, but if you would like to watch a short tutorial on the proper way to submit your sites, take a look at Using SubmitEdge for Directory Submission. […]

Just a short side note to users of SE, you only need to fill in the first 3 titles and descriptions for the cheaper submits so make sure you prioritise them :)

  22. Josh on April 17th, 2008 12:51 pm

Agreed with above poster. I just check with their live support and yep, they only use the top 3 titles/descriptions for the 100 submission package, something that is NOT stated on the submission page. So don’t bother with all 10 titles/ descriptions. They might use them, but they only promise the first 3.

Just wanted to make an offer to fellow BANS owners. I started a Directory to list my sites and have opened it up to everyone. I also set up a category just for “Build A Niche Store Sites. There are already a few listings so please take a look and add your site to the directory. For the next few weeks I will upgrade all BANS site owners to a featured listing. No reciprical link needed and the listings are still free.
