Validate Your ePN Domains to Stay Safe!
I saw that Soggy Dave had posted about making sure you Validate your ePN Domains to make sure you stay within the guidelines of the new ePN Terms of Service, released last week. He posted a good set of instructions on how to get it done quickly and easily!
One of the threads at the ePN forums brings up the point of how this text file will allow anyone who knows the filename, which is the same for everyone, could easily spoof your validation code and load up the same text string to their own sites, thus bringing yours down to a different level if they really want to do some nasty stuff. This is one of the EXACT reasons you WANT to validate your sites!
As Dave points out, established partners are only required to validate at least one of their domains, but its probably a good idea to add all of your ePN money makers to your account.
As soon as your site is validated, you will see the “Confirmation” message shown below, and you can safely delete the text file from your hosting account.

Did You Confirm Your Domain(s)?
I am still at odds as to whether I should confirm the golf site I am giving away in the BANS Guide Contest… I thin k I will choose NO, so it causes no confusion in the future.

So, tried that and got “You have exceeded the maximum allowed attempts. Please try again in 24 hours.”
what a pain in the neck, I only did it with 4 and 1 didn’t confirm. i can understand wanting to tighten up on spammers etc but really they are going to go too far one day.
Had no problems validating sites AFTER I remembered to save the file as a .txt and call it epndomain
Don’t make the mistake of saving it as epndomain.txt because your file actually then uploads as epndomain.txt.txt and won’t validate.

Great looking site.. I like the colors and pictures as well as the reviews…Good work > I see this becoming a good site for you…
Mark,
I did decide to confirm my domains in my EPN account. I know a lot of people are at odds as to whether they should or not but I figure that as long as I am complying with their T & C’s then I don’t really have much problem.
Hey Mark,
I need your expert advice on this:
If a URL of your site is objectionable according to EPN, is pulling the campaign ID off the eBay listings sufficient or even the listings should be taken off as well?
I am “curious” to know what you say (just don’t be over-cautious… I am thinking on it as a matter of pure curiosity)!
Yikes! I just validated a few of my sites, and am now getting totally trashed sites, plus this error message when I try to go into the blog’s wp-admin:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method WordPress_Module::_weak_escape() in /home/greatest/public_html/saddlesandbridles/blog/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 487
The only thing I’ve done to these sites is validate them in epn. On another site, which is brand new and isn’t an affiliate site, I’m having major problems with “Redirect Loop errors on the website due to .htaccess inheritance” that Hostgator supposedly fixed for me. This is a straight wp blog site.
Could it be that Hostgator is having some sort of flame-out?? All my sites were working just great until the validation, plus whatever weird stuff is going on with the blog site.
Dude! Cool that you mentioned it.
Going to help lots of guys.
