July 7, 2008
Over the past week, I have been fighting off a nasty flu… you know, one of those summer colds that just seems to get you down in everything you try to do! Well, I’m glad to say that I think it has passed for the most part and I can once again focus on getting through my to-do list!
This post represents just one more way I can keep up with everything in front of, and behind me, that I need to follow up on. I added a new category to the blog titled “Weekly Review“, where I will post these every week.
BANS - Blog Template Pack! BANS Flex Theme 06/25/08
Even though this post is a bit farther than 1 week old, it shows how the summer cold really set me back! In the post, I had talked about viewing a recording of the installation process and never got it done. I tried, as recent as this morning, to get the recording completed, but due to my love of talking, my throat got irritated and I could not finish. In the “Coming this week” section below, you will read about how I will be posting separate videos throughout this week, to help with the installation.
The BANS Template for WordPress has been downloaded and installed on many websites already and prompted me to create a new section on the site for Templates. The Templates area will contain links to all templates currently available through this site, some are free, others are paid… You will also note that I have created an affiliate program through e-Junkie that allows any of you to blog about the templates and get rewarded with 35% commission on all sales you refer. Additionally, once you sign up for the program, it does not matter what product is purchased, ANY referrals will be tracked back to your affiliate ID.
Finishing Up another BANS / Blog Template 07/02/08
Along with the first template above, I have also been working on a second template titled Orange Crush. The Orange Crush template for BANS is another WordPress template that incorporates Build a Niche Store into its own store folder and provides the ability to use wordpress as the primary content management system for the site. Finishing the installation docs is still on my list of things to get accomplished this week.
PepperJam’s Explosive Growth in the Affiliate MarketPlace 07/03/08
On July 1st, I received an email from Kris at The PepperJam Network. I have been a member a review website for more than 1 year now and this was the first time I actually felt the review would help you, the readers. I have declined more than I care to imagine… Its not ALL about the money for me! :-) I know some bloggers write reviews about things they know nothing about… I just wont do that.
Not Found in Posts
Even though this section is about the weekly review of the blog posts, I though i would also include other things I have been working on, that don’t often discuss.
Music Gear Online
I have shared with a few of you in email about another ecommerce project I have been working on for several months. The Maverick Music Gear site is owned by one of my longtime friends that decided eBay was getting too costly for them to continue at the rate they had been going. This is the 8th website I have done for this customer/friend and it is by far, the most extensive. We will have a total of more than 15,000 products when it is completed and what you see now is just an .asp flavored e-commerce application I have used for many years. Kim is hard at work converting print catalogs into excel spreadsheets for me to import into the database and I have several people working in the background writing descriptions for every single product. The project itself will last through the end of the year, at which point we are building 12 additional “Niche” websites (Not BANS) for each of the main product categories.
Sponsored a Contest!
In the month of June, I tossed my hat into a contest held over at the site of Keith JamesLock and provided a custom wordpress and bans theme for his lucky winner! The template I put together is for a Wii based Niche Site and you can see the template at: http://wii.trybans.com/.
Now for the fun part… planning the week ahead!
Following up on the BANS Flex Theme, I am going to be publishing a series of posts to help with the installation of the theme and wordpress to your hosting account.
In addition to these planned posts, it is likely I will post on other topics as well… stay tuned!

Glad you’re feeling better. Re the wordpress integrated templates can you still show products on the domain home page or is this just for content?
cheers Mark, glad to hear you’re feelings better.
I’m really looking forward to where you will be going with these WP BANs templates. I think it will take your readership to a whole new level as previously WP hadn’t really been a hot topic on thenichestorebuilder.com…
I’ve been getting into wordpress heavily over the last little while, and knowing that you will be dabbling over the next bit and keeping us updated with new templates and ideas keeps me in tuned for the next post.
Mark you went AWOL. I guess I will just buy Soggy’s WP templates.
