Mark,

In my travels this week, came across this free design tool.

http://www.xheader.com/

If any others are into designing their own banners, this is a winner.

Pass it on if it meets your smell test. The price is right!!

I would have to add my name to that information overload list if you're making one. Some times I think my head is going to explode.

I used to work every day but eventually dropped it back to 5 days a week and started taking weekends off to spend with my family.

That's when I realized I was actually getting more done in those 5 days than I was previously working 7 days a week. This fact started my mind spinning through the past and I suddenly realized that the times I allowed my brain to rest for a while and leave things for a bit that when I returned to that task I was much better at it.

Playing guitar was one of those things that helped me understand this. When I would bust my butt to learn new songs and chords I would get to a point where I wasn't improving, but if I stopped what I was doing and let it go for a day or two I was much better at it when I returned.

So now when I get burned out, which doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to, I just get away from. My choice of getting away from it is to go fishing for a day or two, that always clears the mind.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('14914','James Mann','I would have to add my name to that information overload list if you\'re making one.
So I don't understand why G slammed paid links on people's websites... how is Yahoo Directory or any of those others different than buying a link from some powersite?? I'm confused!

And if my sites are well indexed by Yahoo, do I really need to cough up $300 for the directory?

Yeah, the dmoz thing is a waste of time. I submitted the first of my sites almost a year ago, and they're still not in there...
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('14912','Alice','So I don\'t understand why G slammed paid links on people\'s websites... how is Yahoo Directory or any of those others different than buying a link from some powersite??
@ Madhu -

I just got the dead link also... It works though, I got the plugin earlier this week and checked it during the post of this article! :-)

@ Alice -

Some of the best directories out there are paid services. Yahoo Directory for instance, is $299.00, but it carries 100x the weight of a free directory, with maybe exception to DMOZ. (Which takes 299 days to get into!)
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('14911','Mark','@ Madhu - \r\n\r\nI just got the dead link also...
Interesting thing about the linkbuilding directories list - I was shocked to see that most/many are paid services! I thought Google had put the kabosh on paid links... Why would anyone want to risk $300 only to get de-indexed? Or am I not getting how this works?

thanks for the link though - linkbuilding is my weakest point. Once I get into it I'm fine, but for some reason I have a huge mental block about getting started. Maybe some kind of "linkers block" ... ;-)
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('14909','Alice','Interesting thing about the linkbuilding directories list - I was shocked to see that most\/many are paid services!
Mark,

Thanks for the great info.
The link building resource is truly a gem. I bookmarked it.
WordPress Article Directory Plugin link is taking me to a "unable to connect" page error....am not sure what this means.

Great Tip on how to use the "Top commentators" plugin. Priceless inbound links can be built this way and you can also discover good resources in your niche subject.
I've been reading your blog for some weeks now and I want to thank you for the great tips and information you have here. I learn a lot with your blog!

It's my first comment here.
