What do You Know about Site Linking and Google?

November 26, 2008

Over the years of working on websites… the one common thing everyone with a website strives to achieve, are top 10 search engine rankings. One of the most common strategies we all chase to increase those rankings are inbound site links from other websites. In this post, I am going to list a single poll and talk mostly about Google… lets face it, they own search with about 80% of all search customers, going through them to find a relevant site. (Link to market data)

My goal of this post… to find out what most people think are the most important factors in their link strategy!

Lets have a Website Link Strategy Quiz

In the poll below, I have listed several answers to a common question. Please choose the one answer you think is the most important, and if its not listed, feel free to add a comment below, letting us know your thought on this.

Which is the BEST Way to Gain Inbound Links to Increase Search Relevance?

I know how I would answer this poll… but the truth is, it would be a very different answer over the course of many years!

I submit my sites to directories (10 or so every other day for several weeks), put up articles in my USFree Ad account, post to 20 or so bookmark sites like twitter and post comments in related forums. I try and link to the main page and one or two of the inside pages.

I have a site for which I never made a single effort to get a single link, and surprisingly this is the one has the maximum number of inbound links to it among all my sites.

People just link to it for its content quality.

Nothing beats the link-bait quality of an article and my vote goes to #3. It may be the hardest and slowest but it’s the most Google-friendly and effective strategy in the long run.

I’m with number 3. It’s the best way I think, and as Yan mentioned - gonna do good in the long run.

I picked number 3 as well but I’ve not yet subscribed to an article directory. Can anyone please let me know which directory would be best to submit an article about my remarkable experrience using a new dietary food supplement?

I have been doing reciprocal linking for years and that strategy only seems to work well in every other search engine other than Google. It doesn’t seem to matter how many thousands I get Google only gives credit for a small few.

It’s always good to write great articles but instead of just leaving those on my site for others to pick up I prefer to leave them at EzineArticles.com

When I ask other webmasters for links I don’t like to ask for links to my main page. I would rather get links to a specific but relevant page inside my site.

I’m still in the learning process with all of this Google listing stuff, but I do believe that a site with quality Content can in the end bring positive results.

Got something to say?
